So if the rumors are true...if you're correct Hobock, FW2 confirms 2 former MLB Vols were over zealous in their attempt for the job. Can't remember if that was here, another site or radio.

One was beyond over zealous. The other went about it the wrong way and stepped on some toes.

So how are we a huge step down from TCU but not Fullerton? CSF is the most consistent program in the country outside of Texas. Serrano may jump for the money but Schloss wouldn't?

Right, it's the same step down, but Seranno's been a coach at UT before. I don't think Serrano would leave the West Coast for UT unless: it's a boatload more money and he liked it here before, which I think he did. As I've said too, the salary I gave him is probably not accurate, and even if it was, it's a base salary. He wanted the Oregon job when he was at UC Irvine(i think), but the degree issue got in the way. So, he was willing to leave at least once.

I'm asking myself over and over "what will it take to get Schloss, Serrano, McDonnall and would they actually leave a place where they already get to the regional, super regionals, and the CWS?" I don't know.

66, thought we PMed already. Baseball is money losing. They are willing to go to 550 max for the top coach, expect a solid name and expect around 450-500.

I look at the MAX and then I see "expect a solid name at 100-50 thousand less", please tell? How do you know? If you know, just give us the name, it's only baseball. Nobody cares, it's a money loser, right? Like golf, tennis, track... ugh

What amazes me, is how Todd Raleigh was not the least paid coach in SEC.....He had zero resume and no success at UTK.

What bargaining power did CTR have over Hamilton. Was Hamilton bidding against himself?

I don't know. Why build a 4 million dollar baseball complex and pay a coach you won't talk to/meet with/ $300,000 to run the program... Maybe some of the BaseVol Scholars can help. Why do it again?

I think Mcdonnell would make the move for $500k. Based on the OOC schedule U of L plays (lots of SEC matchups) the guy likes a challenge. He's proven he can recruit to a basketball school, win on a high-level in a mediocre conference, etc. I don't see someone who spent so much time in the SEC being content at U of L forever.

He has directly or indirectly told many people his desire to coach in the SEC. It may not even take that much change to make him move.

I'll continue to advocate for Chris Finwood if we're gonna go through mid-major, cheap route. I'd hate to see him leave WKU and see their program suffer but the guy knows how to knock off the big boys and he does it a lot of times with TN boys. I want a big-name, experienced guy, but Finwood's resume is more impressive than Raleigh's was.

Only reason I say that is given the fact he makes $400k already and he's coming into a horrible situation.

Which is a fair assessment. I just think if you make your desires known as readily as he has, it might not require a 100k raise.

Would be nice if it doesn't require that. Who would be your choices NYY? An assistant to throw out is Matt Meyers, the pitching coach here at WKU. He's a '95 UT grad and served as HC at UNCW, assistant at Auburn, and now associate HC at Western and he's produced 2 of the last 3 Sun Belt pitchers of the year.

Looks like the ground work is gettin' laid...From Luke Hochevar 'having love for kids, knowing game & passion & relationships. Burke is my choice for UT Baseball.'

On the radio earlier today.

I heard that as well. Java Herrera has endorsed him too.

This could turn interesting/ugly.

Start high. Serrano and Pat Murphy would get call 1 and 1a. I make both give me an emphatic no. I then move to my next tier of names and find who is the best fit. Mostly the ones I've already talked about.

I'll give Burke credit. He's using every avenue possible.

Personally, I love to see it.

Herrera was on Basilio's show today, he had some interesting things to say.

" We (former players) feel exiled from the program"

" I've never spoke one word to Raleigh, I've had more conversations with Ron Polk"

"There is a disconnect between the baseball program and alumni."

"There should've been a 10 year reunion of the 2001 team that went to the CWS. I've gotten no letters, no phone calls. We, alumni, are going to have to take it upon ourselves to get together."

He also had nothing but great things to say about Burke. When Basilio brought up Burke's lack of experience, he said using his lack of experience against him was "a cop out."

The interview in it's entirety is up here: http://www.tonybasilio.com/

Interesting that yesterday there was no interview set up, but today Raleigh missed a meeting at 3PM. Such drama.:D
