Volinbham Talks Marketing and Bud Light

Yeah, that's it.

IDC what your position is on this Bud Light fiasco, everybody has to admit the people upset and turning on BL are extremely sensitive.

Action 1 - they sent a special can to a trans person
Action 2 - the marketing director said they wanted to change their brand image

Reaction - millions are offended to the point of boycotting?

I don't know why these companies feel the need to choose a side. When you promote a political agenda, your choosing a side whether you like it or not. Businesses should be apolitical. They had everything to lose and nothing to gain by promoting a lifestyle that many of their customers disagree with. I've had great customers that were gay. Didn't care one bit. Their money is as green as the next one. I'm not going to fly a pride flag at my business the same as I won't fly a Nazi flag, or whatever. DO your business and stay out of the fray.

Pretty sure that's the quote (from a pod) that led to the butthurt, and it's pretty silly and sensitive to take any of that personally.

Bump. You avoided answering this.
How’s it any different than your flailing over the movie “sound of freedom” over in the movies thread? You ranted in there about Jim caviezel because you don’t like him for whatever the reason was, and it’s not just you. I keep reading/seeing leftists post about not supporting that movie because of caviezel. But taking issue with bud light promoting a sicko prancing around in school girl uniforms and talking about his “period” is silly/butthurt etc?

BLs customers are just helping them change their image.

Ok, they were told they were bad for BLs image. I can see why they took offense.
Yea, they were.

Here’s the rest of the VP’s comments. They were between the 2 segments @n_huffhines quoted -

She added further that she had a “super clear” mandate that “to evolve and elevate this incredibly iconic brand.” She said that what she “brought” to the brand was a “belief” that to evolve and elevate means to incorporate “inclusivity, it means shifting the tone, it means having a campaign that’s truly inclusive, and feels lighter and brighter and different, and appeals to women and to men.”

“Evolve & Elevate”

Maybe we can get BB85 in here to look those up in Merriam-Webster for us. But off the top of my head:

Evolve - change into something new and better
Elevate - raise up to a higher new level

BL Drinkers were low-level and unevolved. Why they mad?

Ok, they were told they were bad for BLs image.

Say that is true (which it isn't), then it's still about them being sensitive.

2 pages ago, we established this is not what happened, which illustrates just how sensitive these guys are. I cannot think of a client base in the history of advertising that has ever been so personally offended by a company choosing to rebrand itself.

Imagine boomer Folger's drinkers freaking out about a marketing executive saying they want to change their branding to reach a younger clientele base. Nobody should take that personally. Whatever brand I'm loyal to, I'm not loyal to it because of how they advertise. I'm loyal to it because of the product itself, and changing my mind about it because they target somebody else is the most needy, insecure **** I've ever heard.

My god dude you’re trying way too hard to say they’re as sensitive as you when all they did was stop buying a product to show they’re sick of the lunacy trying to be forced down their throats. People talked with their money. They aren’t crying about it daily and still buying it like you do with Twitter. They simply moved onto something else.

And if the “product” is a commodity? Which Bud Light & Coors Light are?

Did she say "change clientele" or change branding? I'm pretty sure she just said change branding and attract younger customers, and sensitive customers turned that into "they don't want me anymore." But maybe I'm missing something she said.
What difference does it really make? By her decision to try to expand into another demographic, she alienated her core customer base. Even a dumb jock like Micheal Jordan could understand this when he said that even Republicans buy shoes.

Guarantee they had market data that shows the demographic, economic and political profile of their core drinker. They chose to ignore it....

Wonder what would’ve happened if someone in there had strongly opposed doing what they did?

Their core customer is the base of the Republican Party and anyone who had been paying attention knows that the base of either political party will over-react to almost anything....

You think the bases of Republicans and Democrats overreact to almost everything?

Right. The point is they ignored it bc they didn't know they were so sensitive.

This is great. From now on anything you piss and moan about couldn’t remotely be justified it’s simply because you’re sensitive. Which means the post I just replied to shows how sensitive and weak you are. Thanks for setting a standard.
