Vols in Summer Leagues Across Continent

6/25 wrap up.

First, I was a probably too harsh on Bruin yesterday, so apologies if I offended.

Taylor Smart is in a cool situation with the Y-D Sox. He's played, 3B, 2B and SS, he's batted 1st, 9th and in between. It must suck to have to adjust everyday, but it makes him valuable I would think. His stat line reads 0 for 1 with a run and an RBI, but he got on base one time on shear hustle, and by an E another time. I can't say he's made the team for sure, but he's made the team.

Maddox, whew...well it wasn't a bad night. Those coastal plain games, I can only listen, but he's up to the same old tricks...i.e. gettin' picked off stealing. Like I said, I wasn't watching, but it sure sounded bad.

Wormsley, Bily and Houser, all have moments, but they get K's too often. This might not be the best time to bring this up, but we are gonna miss Bennett's offense next year. Houser has improved behind the plate defensively, Manis was pretty good already. Still...

Vjax, welp...If I were a pitcher, I'd throw every ball at the outside corner UNTIL he swings at it. VJax is content to wait until he has an offering right over the middle, and he got a double on one of those tonight. But, pitches on the corners, he's lost.

I generally only contemplate on the games I can watch and tonight is no different. I watched Smart, VJax and the Miners game with BCourt, Stew and AJ. Stewart is showing great patience at the plate, and AJ, who didn't have a great game tonight, does what is necessary at the moment. His bunt single tonight was superb. Without, AJ's bunt and Stews 2 RBI's, the Miners aren't even in the game. BCourt got off to a rocky start, but he settled down, pitched well despite not having great location on his breaking stuff. In the end, it was enough to win, and maintain their second place standing in the ABL.

GBO!

I missed your rant. Anyway you have 100% of my respect as a fan. I am a baseball junkie and certainly recognize your passion for everything Vol baseball. I enjoy college baseball on a broader scale and I understand it doesn't sit well sometimes. As I have said before you need an award at next years banquet.

In the three early games, only Derek Lance got a start, he's 0/2 with a run scored so far.

Lance went 1/4, with a run and 2 RBI's. He got caught stealing. This was the first game of a DH.

Neither Lance nor Youngblood getting a start in game #2.

Big Train game got suspended.

Neither Houser or Price getting a start for the Blowfish this evening.

Loyd not getting the start for the Lake Erie Monarchs tonight.

Kidd didn't see any action today.

Matt Esparza is listed as the probable starter for the Green Bay Bullfrogs this evening, best stream of all the leagues out there.

VJax not getting the start for the Rox and I couldn't find even a live stat for Bily's Brewers which is normal for the home games. I'm keeping a lookout for the Flax at 8 PM, since there's not much going on.

It looks like Esparza has prime time all to himself, at least the first hour. First pitch is 8:05, stream is up and running already.

6/26 wrap up...

Not a lot to say tonight. Don't get too excited about Stew's numbers. It was a non league game against an Alaskan high school all star team.

Esparza started off well, pitched 3 really strong innings. After that it looked like a UT game did this season. 3 doubles, 2 home runs would come after the fourth inning if my math is on and it may not be. It was fun to watch though, for a few innings.

I'm writing this before Moberg's second game is finished, maybe he'll make something happen because it was a pretty lack luster day for the Vols in summer ball today.

Things should pick back up tomorrow, lots of pitchers yet to pitch this week. Alaska Baseball League standings got tighter tonight, with the Bucs and Miners in a tight race.

The Blues as a team couldn't hit anything tonight and Lee and Aiken certainly didn't light it up.

Moberg grounds out to short in the bottom of the 4th. He's 0/2 in the second game. Seems like a representative place to stop for the night.

GBO!
