Ukraine crisis: Transcript of leaked Nuland-Pyatt call
The revolt that pushed Yanukovich out of power didn't occur until February 18th. Why are they discussing Yatseniuk's "governing experience" before then unless they had plans on him being inserted as the PM? Nuland even mentioned holding off any conversations with Yanukovich in that phone call. That's because they didn't see a future for him and he wasn't a priority. The Euromaidan unrest started in November 2013.
Saying that major Ukrainian cities are "under safe protection," Zelensky suggested that a visit of the US president in person would stop the spread of panic and prevent escalation. "I am convinced that your visit to Kyiv in the coming days... would be a powerful signal and help stabilize the situation," Zelensky was quoted as saying in the call.
"We will stop any escalation. The Ukrainian capital, Kiev, other cities in our country - Kharkov and Lvov, Dnepr and Odessa - are under safe protection," Zelensky told the US president.
american did not war heads in cuba . if you ukranine joins nato they could put war heads on russia border. ronald reagan agree not expan nato in to eastern eu. but since 1992 on they have push nato closer to russia. russia bear may not not back up anymore. demacrats & repub. want punished russia. russia tore down the wall in germany and got a nato closer to its border. trade with russia is better than war. trade agreements over war agreements any day. and i am done.Great post Mudcat! I am very concerned about this. The impact of invasion would be far, far reaching!

I swear, you guys can be looking directly at the evidence and still want to ignore it.

Again, you miss the point. Yanukovich was still in power at the time of this recording. Yet Nuland and Pyatt are discussing Yatseniuk and his governing experience. Yanukovich is then removed in a coup roughly two weeks after this phone call is released. Shortly afterwards, Yats is made prime minister. The unrest started well before February. Maybe Russia Today didn’t cover it.
I just watched Tulsi Gabbard claiming that all it would take to avoid war is if the US agreed to not allow Ukraine to join NATO. She claimed that the USA is actually pushing Russia to attack The Ukraine. This can be backed up by the, "limited invasion," comments out of Washington last week. Her rationale is that the "military complex," wishes to recreate the cold war as it is good for business at the expense of the US taxpayers. She discussed that Europe is not as concerned, so why would America be more concerned than Western Europe. You can make this same type of argument that some of the government decisions this past year was a financial boom for big pharma, again at the expense of the taxpayers. I also listened to Ukrainians being interviewed about a possible war, and they claimed that they did not care if Ukraine stayed independent or became part of Russian - it did not matter - as long as they avoided war. I just hate that the greatest troops on the planet - the 82 Airborne is put in harms way.
Note: I did a walking tour of Berlin when my son and I backpacked Europe a few years back, and heard the best explanation of the wall coming down by a tour guide that involved it coming down because a Russian diplomat missed a meeting, the Monday candlelight vigils, a single question by an Italian reporter, and two elderly ladies who had many years old VISA. Quite interesting. One of those Paul Harvey, now you know the rest of the story, type of explanations.
Interesting viewing, but not the version I heard:
ronald reagan had lot to do with that wall coming down.
