War in Ukraine

So, looks like this is the guy the Kremlin, or Putin, or both is positioning to replace Putin. He's basically the guy that is in charge of Russia's mercenary army. He likes to bluster and war monger. Not sure how accurate that is. He is talking a big game right now, and openly criticizing putin.

What will change? Are those mythical, elite Russian troops that have been playing war games with China and India going to show up? Or maybe the 100,000 North Korean troops are going to finally arrive in theater?
About those 100,000 NK solders. No way is Kim letting 100,000 people leave the country. Anyone who gets out ain't likely to come back.

Lol! No…

Kadyrov is not in charge of Wagner.

This is my shocked face.

Everyone knows that the last thing you need to do and the least legally important item when it comes to controlling land is to know where the boundaries are.

How do you hold a representative vote if you dont even know what area/people is being represented?
Everyone wants to be a part of Russia, so boundaries shouldn’t matter.

I'll echo what I said about a week ago about this. No way is the largest military alliance on earth running out of weapons after 7 months of a relatively small regional war on their borders, not even close.

Europe will. They have been negligent in stockpiling weapons and spares for decades. A hollow military, which only exists as an industrial welfare program.
We have seen it in every combat commitment they have made the past 40 years.

2018...4 of 128 Eurofighters available

You have to keep in mind, that we refuse to drop below what we consider what we need, if we were to go to war ourselves. I suspect it's the same for our Allie's. There is only so much extra you are sitting on. And I suspect our inventory levels take into account how long it would take US manufacturing to get online re-supplying what we need.

Yes. These weapons stockpiles are being completely misconstrued. There is no way the DoD would purposely drop below equipment levels required to support their present doctrines and plans to give or sell to a third party.

Good luck these days..triple the lead-time.
800 Jav's per year production..and we have given 10 years worth. That is alarming..but as the article states..the USA has overlapping munition capability.
The EU couldn't sustain a war against Russia themselves for any extended period..Laughable and really why we got the cough cough persons comments we did. Hollow

The article doesn't exactly make an honest assessment. It's a lot like saying many of our fighters were unavailable a few weeks ago when they were grounded for ejection seat inspections as an overall failure rather than a stand-down for safety. In both cases there is a specific issue; yes the planes are or were degraded, but it doesn't point out overall failure of the military to perform in either case. Some of these things are like recalls for cars we drive - often daily in spite of a recall notice.

I don't know when that article was written but if it was written within the last 3-4 years Trump was right about NATO nations not living up to their obligations.

Yeah, but those WWII weapons that the allies are hanging onto in Europe are getting a little stale.

Do you know the shelf life of a rocket? Just curious.
Millions of AA, AG, SA, personnel launched LAWS, Stingers,,,,on and on and on.
I know they try and use them in training..but what do they do with old stockpile?

What's the chances of those estimated lead times being anywhere close to correct?

But to be fair..it is probably anti procurement political ideology piece and things are not that bad typically. But they are bad.

While I agree it doesn't seem the Russians are losing per se, since they still have their own territory intact and still have control of a significant amount of Ukrainian territory. But if this is what winning looks like, Putin would do well to remember the fate of King Pyrrhus of Epirus.
You act as though Russia has lost over half of their troops in Ukraine. They haven't come anywhere close to that.

Not really no. From what I remember it’s largely driven by the storage life of the solid rocket motor. This fiasco is also an opportunity to just shoot off the old stuff or make it someone else’s problem instead of pull old inventory for expensive R&M. Then backfill with the current version of the item. Circle of life, munition replenishment orders 🤷‍♂️

So Russia isn't spending lives and treasure?
Yes they are I have never denied they are. I'm just saying it is nowhere near the amount of losses that the Western media is reporting.

What is Russia gaining in this prolonged fight, at this rate Russia will be fighting in Ukraine for years.
They are bringing back the lands and people of Novorossiya and are working to not only on the demilitarization of Ukraine, but the longer this drags on, the more they are demilitarizing NATO.

Catherine the Great is smiling down from heaven right now...
