That would have been a non-starter. The coup of 2014 removed their elected/preferred candidate.I mean no more DNR/LNR puppets completely under Ukrainian control and no federalization. Anyone who supported the uprisings would be pardoned as long as they didn't commit war crimes or crimes against humanity and promise never again to take up arms and those who don't want to stay would be granted safe passage to Russia.
Not much of anything recently except let them cross the border. But of course, that is because that is achieving a political goal for the corrupt leaders in this country. But even you know that there are several historical examples of us crossing over and the US using the same or similar justifications that Russia is using right now.
OK, now you are lying. They are clearly targeting the very same infrastructure targets that you say the US would do. If anything, you ignore that type of attacks on the people of Donbas by the Kyiv regime. You could give a f*** about those innocent civilians. What we have done first (not going back to the WW1 or so) is to knock out enemy air defenses and command and communication systems. Sometimes the most expedient manner to do that is to take out power grids where all that happens. If those are co-located with civilians, that's life - we didn't choose where an enemy decided to place those. That's not at all like Russians dumping missiles on population centers just because they can - that kind of thing ranks right up there with Iraq terrorizing Israel with SCUDs. There will always be civilian casualties in war, but there's no good reason to target them with the advent of more precise weapons. Russia could simply have stayed home and not killed or maimed anybody.
So 30k troops from NATO vs 300k from Russia. OK. You've convinced me.
Also, where is that Million Man Army that 3elensky was talking about this summer?
We have as much reason to go across the border now as Russia does. I would all 8 years between 2014 and now retrained in Russia's credit, but WTF is the US doing? Far longer than 8 years... Should have been addressed decades ago, to be honest. But the people running this country have an interest in having an open border here, but wanting to defend the borders of Ukraine. We might be justified in crossing the Mexican border - that's iffy; it certainly wouldn't hurt my feelings since Mexico is doing nothing at all to stop people from entering and crossing Mexico to reach the US border. Mexico doesn't seem to be doing much to stop their cartels from producing and transporting drugs into the US either. Should we just send cruise missiles their way and take care of that ourselves? Wouldn't hurt my feelings there either if we did. Why we don't do more may be up for debate; we certainly have reason but have been restrained - unlike what Russia has done in Ukraine - which is a simple land grab.
And of what strategic importance does Ukraine have with the average person in the US? Or for that matter, what significant importance does Przewodow, Poland... a place I guarantee 100% of you clowns have never heard of before yesterday, have for Americans? Yet, you all were rubbing your hands together and smacking your lips hoping for an Article 5 triggering.
The Donbas isn't the one that threw the temper tantrum, genius. They didn't overthrow the govt. Are you serious right now?You don't reward kids for throwing a temper tantrum.
Donbas had nothing to do with that coup. So no, they didn't start anything. They started this mess, they don't get to benefit from it.
I didn't question the method of training. I'm questioning the numbers. 30k vs the Million Man Army that 3elensky was bumping his gums about. Where are they? You train the trainers. Teach a cadre and they in turn have the knowledge to teach the rest. The N Vietnamese used that very effectively to train insurgents in S Vietnam.

No different than what the Maidan clowns did, genius. No they simply decided to take over government buildings, declare themselves independent, and support a foreign power over their homeland. They didn't even give the new government a chance to meet with them. You seem all about diplomacy but the DNR/LNR chose a violent uprisings instead of using diplomacy to resolve any differences between the eastern provinces and the new central government.

Using your anaolgy, the country of Ukraine in its present configuration was a creation of the USSR that cobbled together the property of 4 other neighbors (Russia, Hungary, Romania and Poland). So at the very least, all Russia is doing is getting its property back (Novorossiya).
That is dumb political policy... and expensive. So what are going to do, arm every enemy of Russia, China and Iran?
European maps change all the time. That is exactly why George Washington warned us about getting involved in their affairs. This conflict had nothing to do with us.I've posted at least twice the maps and treaty signed by Ukraine and Russia and filed away at the UN. There are a bunch of sectional maps delineating the Ukraine/Russia border. Russian troops are on the wrong side. End of story.
And we will continue to go broke and get wrapped up in these senseless conflicts that we always come up short on.I hope so.
Proxy wars where our enemy gets sh*t on and American lives aren't risked - heck yeah. All day.
You posted all the gagillions of dollars that the U.S. has sent to Ukraine? How much of that was equipment value versus cash?
And we will continue to go broke and get wrapped up in these senseless conflicts that we always come up short on.
Where is their air defense? Where are the Warthogs? Where are the Abrams tanks? Where is the Million Man Army? Where is Starlink? Where are those switchblade drones? How is that Kerch Bridge attack working out?So you don't know?
Because I can't think of a better use of the equipment that was designed to sh*t on Russia to actually be used for such a task. Right now, it would appear that the equipment we've provided is proving to be effective for the very task it was procured for.
Finally, American tax dollars are being put to good use.
