War in Ukraine

Could secret talks be underway somewhere in the world to end this war? I'm certainly no military expert but something doesn't smell right about putting off this offensive that Ukraine has been planning for months. Most of the promised equipment has been delivered. The grunts should be fully trained and equipped by now. Ukraine doesn't seem to be hitting strategic targets which would normally precede an offensive. I don't know what else the holdup could be.

IMO it's weather related. One of the wettest springs on record. Giant mud bowl. Need things to dry out more so they don't get bogged down

There hasn't been enough US taxpayer money bilked yet.

Train derailment in Crimea.

Resistance movements in occupied territories are ramping up ahead of Ukraine offensive?

Even if Russia should "win", they will lose. Hard to imagine that Ukraine wouldn't turn into a resistance/insurgent playground, and I don't see Russian secret police being as effective as they were during the Soviet era. I just can't see a Russian win in Ukraine, and possibly not even continuing to hold Crimea. It all depends a lot on whether Ukraine screws up or public opinion changes causing Ukraine to lose outside support.

Hey @Rasputin_Vol you gotta train your boys to keep their head on swivel, like they do when they walk by open windows in a Russian high-rise.

Noice.

As I said Western jets will be in Ukraine before too long.

You called it. I will say training takes the better part of one year, give or take depending on aircraft type. Going to be a while before UKR pilots are proficient in F16s, assuming some aren’t already in the states training on them. Seems like finding other countries willing to send Migs or SUs would expedite matters.

Which of Ukraine's neighbors already have F-16's and have signaled their readiness to fight if needed? I'd imagine you'd find some pilots there.

Wagner Group CEO Prigozhin asks Russian Army General Valery Gerasimov and Sergei Shoigu, Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, not to flank them for at least a few more days.

Imagine a world power having to rely on a mercenary group to do the heavy lifting, and now begging the world power to stop shi**ing the bed...

How @Rasputin_Vol and @volgr show up in here day after day with a straight face and pretend this is OK has me embarrassed for them.
They aren't pretending. They are true believers.

This has to be embarrassing to Putin. Running around bragging about his Wunderwaffe weapons only for them to be useless against NATO weaponry.

It's probably going to be called a "feature". See Russians are actually using the wonder weapons as sponges to soak up all the defensive weapons that NATO buddies are sending Ukraine. Then when the defensive weapons are all used up, Russia can send in unused WW2 weapons they have stored up to destroy Ukraine. All going as planned. They are probably converting some leftover Sturmoviks and Yaks to drones as we speak.

Saw something the other day that one of the NATO members already has Ukrainian pilots training in Europe. Probably only a squadron or two but that is still significant.

Would be interesting to see Gen 3.5 F-16, but with upgraded avionics and weapons, taking on the Russian Gen 4.5 fighters. If the F-16s hold their own or even establish superiority, it would for once and all prove Russian military technology to be irreparably inferior. Remember the F-16 is essentially a 1980 platform.
