What are legitimate reasons for divorce?

What he mentioned came straight from the bible.

Eph 5:22 Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, and Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body.
Eph 5:24 But as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everything.
Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it;
Eph 5:28 Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.
Eph 5:31 "For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. The two will become one flesh." {Genesis 2:24}
Eph 5:33 Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

somehow my wife and i have figured it out without massive bible study. lucky i guess.

what you mentioned has nothing to do with the bible

You mean except that the Bible teaches it, right?

If you find and adopt similar principles from something else... that still does not mean that they have "nothing to do with the Bible."

these are human values. it's absurd to argue they wouldn't exist without the bible.

relavance? are you arguing the bible isn't full of misogyny?

those words from the Bible were aimed at the men of that day, middle East men, and the way that they SHOULD treat women and marriage.........human nature was not cutting it.....holds true today also.......they still treat women as a possesion

and your argument is without the bible that we wouldn't treat women well here in america?

did I say that?
we do not have that much of a problem here in the US....but it is still a straight up Biblical principal that is clearly laid out in scripture.....the Bible influences even the unbeliever

i think you underestimate the human spirit. we all aren't a bunch of lemmings that go along with whatever the bible says. and frankly teh bible isn't exactly a perfect example of how to treat women either.

i do not underestimate it......i just use the Bible as my filter......God does not want "lemmings", free will and all.....simple believers will do

I still don't see how this validates what you said earlier. The Bible is a product of the same human nature you claim has no moral guidance.

You will need to expand that statement a little bit.
The Bible is a human product? The Bible produces human nature? The Bible provides moral guidance? The Bible has nothing to do with moral guidance?
Help me out here.

i think what he is saying that human nature is why the bible was written as it was. i.e. humans naturally strive to be good in general.

ding ding... thank you.

although, "good" is a very loose term when it comes to human nature. I mean, look at some of the laws in The Bible. I think good intentions are what we strive for, but we fail miserably at times.

have to disagree with that statement......God's will is why the Bible was given to us through man
