Where do we go from here, and does this loss effect recruiting?? (Merged)

My ideal and completely unrealistic top 7:
1 Seantrel Henderson
2 Marcus Lattimore
3 Jeff Luc
4 Lamarcus Joyner
5 Dietrich RIiley
6 Jawaun James
7 James Stone

Why?

Outside of Seantrel Henderson, that list is a real possibility.

Lattimore all of the sudden looks attainable with his teammates committing.

Luc and Joyner are gonna be the toughest. And there's a high probability that Riley, James and Stone will be Vols.

Don't sell yourself short my friend.

I have read that Lattimore is looking around with his teammate Nick Jones. He wants to play with him. That is why Auburn SC and Penn have all issued offers to Jones

OL, OL, OL

We are finished with WR

LB

DBs

We need one great RB like Dyer

Close to finishing this year's class

Do you know something we don't? How can you be done with a position you don't even have a commitment for? They have stacked up on the years past but Meline or Cobbs are the only two commits that could end up in the secondary. You really don't think Riley is going to be a Vol?

Also.... what? Brown and Oku are the running backs for the two, maybe three more seasons. Fugate will be more than just a fullback.

Reread my post. We need DBs for this class. When I said we are done, I meant at the WR position only. We need to get a Riley, Joyner types

we really only have 7 spots left????

That LB Luc, that four star CB who just decommitted from UF and is interested in us; 2 good Olinemen...that's all i got

Every year we need to get marquee players at each position. We need to load up like the USCs of the world for long term success. We don't need to get three like we did last year (T Williams, Oku, Brown). Just need to get one.

Oh, okay. My bad. If you look at your post again, could you see how I would read it differently? You kind of made it look like a list. I've always liked your posts. I just thought it was way of base. That changes everything though. I agree we need another runningback but not compared to DB or LB which I thought your were saying we don't need. I gotchya now.

My breakdown would be this:

3 OL
1-2 DB
1 RB
1-2 LB

Meline and Cobbs are athletes that can fill in at DB. Would be great to get a very special DB like Lamarcus or Deitrich.

No worries and thanks

Looks good to me. I'd agree with that completely too. I'd settle for one linebacker though off that list. Only because I want Luc or Shirley.

I would take both. I think you get what I mean though... we're lucky to get one of the two.

do we really need another RB? We've got two good ones from this last class and another who has redshirted this season due to injury

I wouldn't say need but you always want to get one position in every class. Bryce could be gone after his junior year and if an injury hits Oku... then what?

well i know (knock on wood); but I feel the bigger needs out of what's left are o-line and DBs...and LBs.

RB is kinda a luxury here (do we need a FB though?). I kinda assume with the way we've been that we'd definitely get another RB next year if one doesnt come this year

I gotchya but runningbacks take a lot of carries and a lot of hits. A lot of wear and tear also. Yes, we do need a fullback unless you mean another. We have Fugate so it's taken care of. A fullback is required for this offense and Fugate takes care of that need. You're also right that we don't need one this year but it wouldn't hurt. I'm willing to take 3 linemen, 1 rb, 1 db, 1 lb. As long as we get two more linemen, I'll take any skilled position if they are that good. O-line is the biggest concern.

Not an absolute need like QB, O line, D line. We are solid on shoring up some of our weaknesses with this class. D line will be the best in the country and O line will be outstanding too. QB will be great

However, I think this staff has the mentality that you need to keep the cupboards full every year. That means getting talent every year at every position. We might pat ourselves on the back for having 4 guys that can play at the RB position (5 if you count T Williams). However if you want USCs success then you keep the stable full, and that means getting top players EVERY year at EVERY position. Like I said before, you don't need 3 recruits (like last year) this year we need just 1. Competition at every position every year.

Time to stop the guessing games. We will in no way take another 3 star (if it was up to me we could drop Pair as well) but I am going ALL VOL for the rest of the season (even if crompton is the QB during the AU and UGA game).

How do you have as our final 7/8 if we get a decommit.

I think it will be :

Luc
Riley
Robinson
Arie K
Bernard
Moses
L. Joyner (Janzen was all LSU last year, we have a way with our coaching staff, and we did put him on TV and accept the violation just to get him on )

I don't think we should be dropping ANY OL commits we have. CLK has said they are going after OL prospects that fit what they are looking for. These guys may not be the highest ranking, but they should work out.

Should or shouldn't? They want smaller than the average linemen. They want quickness. That's why they've picked up lower rated ones. They fit the system. Being big usually helps your rating because most teams are looking for the big hos.

Another player's always nice I agree. But since we're short on spaces, I'd rather the that one space go to either a second DB or a second LB (depending on whichever we're going to be more hurt at in the next few years).

personally, I always like bringing in 2 DBs, especially if they're both good...ive always felt corners are a tougher position to recruit

I think we have one committed to be honest. This is based off pure speculation but I think Meline is moved to corner. He stated himself he prefers playing defense. Cobbs is a possibility for safety but I doubt it happens. There is a slight possibility Teague could be moved to corner if Meline plays WR. We have too many wide receivers and Monte really wanted Teague on defense. We were thin at WR though.

This is just based on current events in my opinion. Signing day is a ways away.

right. WR was a big need and we filled it well so far. HB we got playmakers we need too last year. If some of those guys can come in and play/switch to CB, then cool...but if someone really good likes us I'm a bit more favorable to him

I'm more up for (outside of like 2-3 Olinemen) then LBs or DBs....and possibly open/intrigued by the possibility of if another QB decommits...though I feel that one's more doubtful in happening
