I have'nt heard allen iverson in the runing of the recrutes for the Tennessee's team of the QBs. If this is of the case Allen will be the dark horse of the champienchip team

Everybody lives dobbs because of his intelligence and speed, and rightfully so, but ferguson has a great opportunity to win the job as well. Seems like I remember reading somewhere that Saban pursued him pretty hard. That says something with all the success bama has had. It will be interesting to see how it plays out and both these guys will be better because of the competition

I think it will be a tough call for the staff. You could make a good case for any one of the the 4 guys. I don't know that we've ever had this many qb's on the roster that we could say this about. So, that's a good problem to have.

I have been leaning toward Worley for the longest, but that was largely based on game experience. However, the problem with that thinking is....none of these QB's has any real experience in CBJ's system. Worley and Peterman got reps in Spring practice, but I think Dobbs has the most potential to separate from the pack.

After watching some tape of his again, I came away mighty impressed. He is REALLY good at improvising when the pocket breaks down, and I'm not simply talking about mobility. He has Russell Wilson-level improvisation skills...and frankly, that is what makes Wilson so tough to play against.

You can be a DE, having beat your man and have the QB dead to rights, yet Wilson would somehow squirt away from the pressure.

If CBJ had been here for a few years and had QB's already familiar w/ his system and game experience, I could see both Dobbs and Ferguson redshirting...but I am starting to believe that Dobbs may indeed be too intriguing for the staff to pass on, this season.

In fact, I think he's the closest thing Butch has to Oregon's Marcus Mariota. So, if Dobbs impresses in Fall camp, is in shape to play the tempo they want, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see CBJ roll the dice. Not only would Dobbs have arguably the best OL in the country in front of him...but he'd have 3 WR's who are 6'4"+ tall.

If I'm Jones, I make Oregon face a living hell having to defend 3 giants and a slippery Pig, while contending with Dobbs running loose.

Dobbs is a 3 star who we stole from Arizona State. I mean I am glad he is a vol, and there is no doubt, he is smart but I do not get the strange belief that he will start as a Freshman. He may not ever start for our VOLS.

Even posters who claim they look at offer lists think he is the next big thing. His offer list is not impressive.

Make no mistake, Dobb's was brought here for his GPA. Maybe he can play qb maybe he can't. Butch knows he has to get the GPA up & he's known it since before he took the job. He was able to sneak in and steal Dobb's from ASU. Butch has shown in other areas that he knows what he's doing, why would you not believe he's got a plan to make sure they stay bowl eligible? Dobbs might just be the guy, but there is no way he starts from game 1. I bet on a redshirt, Worley has game experience, don't discount that.

Another ignorant post. CBJ isn't recruiting players to improve the team GPA. He's recruiting them if he thinks they can help this team win....not if they can be academic tutors.

It's only a bonus that Dobbs happens to be so smart.

Exactly. The one 5* QB we had and even though Kiffin didn't have any other QB in his back pocket, he told Boyd to hit the road, cause he didn't fit his golden surfer boy QB profile. That was his biggest cock-up, next to choosing Matt Simms over Cam Newton.

We could have had Newton, if we simply offered. Newton would have elevated the team enough to win 8-10 games that year. Instead we had to endure yet another year of suckage at the QB position. Hamilton Nuked this program with his two abysmal coaching hires.

He could have gotten Gary Patterson, instead of Kiffin. Patterson told local media that he had been interviewed for the job, but Hamilton didn't care about coaches with a record of winning and beating teams that had more talent. He wanted name recognition over wins.

In both cases, neither Kiffin, nor Dooley had a resume as a head coach that belonged in the SEC, much less a storied program such as this.

Mike Hamilton...the virus that just won't go away.

This is BS. I am no Kiffin fan but letting Boyd out of his scholarship was the right thing to do. He is barely 6 foot and is run first, pass second. He has turned out to be a great fit for Clemson, but coming to UT would have been horrible for him. You don't come into a new program as head coach and start out by changing your whole offensive philosophy because you have a HS recruit coming in who doesn't fit it. My guess is Taj would have transferred after 1 or 2 frustrating years. And i don't remember scoring points with Bray being the issue. Anyway, as I recall Kiffin told Boyd he would honor the scholarship offer, but told him that he most likely would not get the chance to play QB like he would at other programs due to his style. I guess Kiffin could have lied to him and brought him under the illusion that he fit the mold. Ask the Leak brothers how they feel about UT and it's history of honoring QB opportunity promises.

The article said Bray never developed like he should under then head coach Lane Kiffin. He never played for Kiffin.
