Who takes over at Alabama?

They'll explore it, but Steve has a chance to make his own legacy at Texas. Darrell Royal is long in the past and Mack Brown stayed too long and fell off badly.
Austin vs Tuscaloosa, no contest Austin

UA vs UTjr, sports a wash, UTjr prestige advantage

UA VS UTjr money, UTjr

Job of dealing with terrible boosters, this would be a UA/UTjr tossup

Following legend/false God, UA fans are going to have extremely high expectations, UTjr fans have high expectations but they have been suffering so if he has some success why leave. Now this will certainly be a different view point if it is 3-4 years before Saban steps down. If it is 3-4, might be a good time to take a big UA guaranteed contract for 6 years and ride off into the sunset…

if Saban leaves in Short term, Steve stays at UTjr, if it is medium term it will depend on the success he is having and which one gives him the longer guaranteed contract…

I don’t see how Kiffin wouldn’t be on their list. He’s proven himself successful at an inferior SEC school. His propensity to recruit and Bama’s resources/pedigree would make it impossible for him to not reel in top 5 classes every year and keep things going.
Pretty simple. Kiffin is an 8-4 coach. Yes he gets to 9 or 10 here and there but he also has a 6 or 7 win year to offset. That won’t get it done at Bama.

Kirby is a UGA guy all the way, but Bubba would offer Kirby 20 million a year just to be an ass
Yeah, I don’t see Kirby leaving UGA. He is a South GA boy and grew up loving the Dawgs. GA had been pretty good for awhile before Kirby, but he got them over the hump. Money talks but UGA will likely keep making sure he is one of the highest paid coaches.

You think if Saban did the same thing Mike Price did that he would be fired for it?
Absolutely...The backlash from not doing it would be insanity...Remember Price was a very wanted coach at the time he was hired...Pretty much ruined his career.

My guess would be Kiffin. People say that he does not meet the Bama standards. But remember we are talking about a program that sells their soul to the Devil for championships.

Not so sure that Heupel would not be on their list. That would kill two birds with one stone.

Movie gif. A scene from the movie Half Baked. A man stands with a disgruntled looking crowd sitting behind him. He points angrily as if offended at someone, saying., “Boo this man! Boo!” He then grabs the hat off of his head and chucks it. The crowd behind him starts to get up and follow his protest.

I bet Bama has Dabo further down the list than they once did....and likely is further down that list at season's end.

Close friend of mine who runs in college football circles - not a public figure so nobody would know him - tells me Saban is retiring at the end of the season. I trust him as he doesn’t share these types of things without solid info.

When it happens, who do you think Bama goes after? Dabo? Sarkisian? Someone else with SEC experience like Lane Kiffin or Dan Lanning? Brent Venables? Or do they go the NFL route?
Bumping this for the clowns in this thread who said I was full of it.
