Why Barnes!?!?!

What's more rational than actually numbers backing up our side? The emotional vendetta that you have? We've all admitted that he's not a world beater. No one has said otherwise, myself included. No, he's not had the success many thought he would. There's a reason why he's only played 55 minutes in 6 conference games. But just because you had unrealistic expectations of him, or just jealous that he's playing D1 while you probably couldn't get higher than towel boy for the freshman team, doesn't mean he's the excrement you claim he is.
ALL I said is that he doesn’t deserve to get a transfer scholarship at a D1 SEC school. YOU all took it to another level. He doesn’t deserve to have a scholarship here (especially on a national championship caliber team). I expect a grad transfer, who is given a full ride to earn it. He hasn’t.
I’m 41.... I never claimed to be an athlete. I run a lot and you can see my abs. That’s the extent of my athletic ability. I’m not jealous of anyone trying to navigate this world at 21 years old. Been there done that. But I know the game of basketball. I’m tired of us trying to patchwork a post game. You do see the pattern of post players that Barnes has brought in to supplement the roster, right?

Earn what? You act like he's getting this substantial amount of playing time. He isn't. When he plays well, he plays more. When he doesn't, he gets 4 mins in the game. I gave you the number of minutes he had in each SEC game so far. There's a reason why he had 3 game stretch of 6 minutes or less. He responded.

There are only two kinds of players in the SEC, apparently. All-conference players, and players at Tennessee who don't deserve scholarships.

Let's agree that he is a defensive liability, rebounds sometimes, and is an all around disappointment as a D-1 player.......beyond that, we have to recruit bigs
more aggressively. Even in this age of guard oriented offense and 3 point shooting, no one can win consistently without quality big man play....Barnes needs to bring in some bigs to play with these guards.......Oh, we lose that game against FL last night even with Springer on the floor.....don't lie to yourself about that fact......FL was shorthanded as well.....we got out worked and out played

Right? Maybe there's some sort of potion out there that can make the guy grab 2 rebounds/minute, so he'll have 8 in his whopping 4 minutes in the game.

You’ll see....stay posted.

He wasn’t recruited for his offense, though.
I will go out on a limb and say that most of the coaches that offered him expected him to be able to make a point blank lay up. For some reason he can't. Sure they didn't expect 15 points a game but would this be too much to ask?

He may be a bit of a disappointment at Tennessee, but he was an all-conference player at Sacred Heart, a D1 school, so it's hard for me to buy that he is a disappointment as a D1 player. He also had offers from Gonzaga, Louisville, Wake Forest, Georgia, and Tennessee as a grad transfer. Those coaches didn't agree that he was a disappointing D1 player.

As a JR at Sacred Heart, he had 20 pts and 7 rebs on the road against Providence, and 12 pts and 7 rebs on the road at UCONN. As a SO, he had 22 and 9 against Boston College and 13 and 12 against Seton Hall. He just played a different roll, and different position, and was much more heavily relied upon at SH. So, he's produced against high majors when given minutes in the past.

I just think he is having trouble adjusting to the step up in athleticism on a nightly basis and to the idea of being a role player expected to play exclusively in the post following an offseason where he got little to no coaching instruction in what was expected of him.

I've already discussed why I think he's struggling offensively. Besides, you'll have to ask Balledupfists...he sets the expectations round these parts.

There is just always gonna be a group that can't handle anything negative said about their team. I can't for the life of me understand why these softies join a message board. It's like someone that can't swim jumping in the deep end of the pool.

He. Was. A. Grad. Transfer. A hole filler!!! SUPPOSED to immediately contribute. THAT was the expectation, thus the scholarship. He hasn’t earned it. At ALL to this point. You disagree!?!?

This dude has the negativity of catbone, the logic of SeniorDrill, and the stubbornness of Bruin all in one delusional package. What a marvel of nature.

Sorry guys, I'm having a good time comparing posters haha.
1. Only thing I said is Anosike is a wasted scholarship. Prove me wrong.

Think about what you're agreeing to before you beat your chest on this issue.

That guy is saying, and you are agreeing that EJA didn't deserve a scholarship. Despite the fact that he was the 6th rated grad transfer in the country, held offers from 3 of the preseason top 25 teams, among others, was 2x all-conference and produced in every matchup against high-major competition. Mark Few didnt see this coming. Chris Mack didnt see it coming, Rick Barnes, Steve Forbes, Tom Crean...they all expected him to add something. Not a single one of then expected him to come in and dominate. And then you add in the total absence of an offseason program.

Hindsight is 20/20, and I don't particularly remember either of you two in here last April proclaiming this a wasted scholarship, then.

I'm perfectly fine with fair criticism where it's due, and EJA isn't immune from it for certain things, like the missed layups and his defense. I've mentioned those things and I called out several members of the team and Barnes, specifically, last night. Piling on EJA for not meeting ridiculous expectations after the fact and claiming he was never worthy of a scholarship is ridiculous. Implying that his presence prevented us from signing someone else and that we just settled for someone no one else wanted is just weak sauce.

I've seen SeniorDrill mentioned on this board before but never seen him or her post

I agree with what you said last. All the coaches that offered EJ probably spent 5 minutes scouting him and just offered him based on reputation with nothing to lose holding an open scholarship. Having said that, it's obvious at this point that he is not SEC caliber. Why bring him back for a second year?

1. You serious? There is no way he was offered a scholarship by anybody without extensive scouting. Maybe I am missing sarcasm but that’s ludicrous if not
2. Again, seniors who return next year won’t count against the scholarship cap, so why would you not bring him back?
