Why fire your best recruiting <position> coach?

Well that is what i heard.

And the thing is to me I would want somebody that had been recruiting to UT for the last few years...especially if he was our recruiting coordinator and he was a good position coach and now we don't got one

Hinshaw is probably a great guy and good coach, but most of us have no idea how he really performed on the job. I just believe CBJ wants high energy guys on his staff that he feels comfortable working with. The superstar recruiter staff usually does not work and often results in high staff turnover. But I am like everyone else, I just want us to start winning again.

It's not rocket science - I think Hinshaw was certainly one of our top two recruiters - put a great product on the field so I quite honestly would have to strongly question not keeping him. I don't watch it every day but here is what I can tell you. Last year UT's receiving recruiting class was ranked first or second in the country. Hinshaw was the wide receivers coach and recruited receivers among others. His position players were very productive and looked like they knew what they were doing -- including the backups. I don't know him from Adam - but if I was targeting a receiver coach -- I think he would be very high on my list. Someone will definitely snap him up. If you had an amazing upgrade it would be different. I like Coach Butch -- but my biggest concern is all these Cincinnati average assistant coaches and Georgia rejects and their ability to recruit in the South.

Other than T - I can't think of anyone else who would do a better job than Hinshaw. If I were coaching at UT - I would have kept Hinshaw and recruited and hired T.

Butch is a good coach - but you are only as good as your assistants and the jury is definitely out on this crew.

Good grief.....get a grip.....most new coaches come in and get rid of the staff that was there before him....he will hire his guy and will win here.

What makes you think Hinshaw is such a great recruiter?

Well he was the recruiting coordinator for the U of T.

he brought in some athletes

my point is why not keep him....he's got connections...you know...and kind of a bid deal

a WR coach that was a RC in the SEC sounds good to me

where am i messing up?

I think the reason CBJ fired his best recruiter is very simple..............because he wanted to, he could, and obviously he did not think he was his best recruiter.i

If he doesn't want Tee he doesn't offer. Neither the qbs or receivers got better under Hinshaw. Doesn't do any good to get 4 stars if you can't do anything with them.

The "odd" thing is obviously he did not get his first choice. Quite frankly I don't think he wanted T and he just made the offer because of the question at his press conference.
I think BJ sabotaged the T hire.

Now I ask who is he gonna get that would be better, especially since Hinshaw was the recruiting coordinator.

We need all the recruiters we can get.

OOOOOHHHH !! I love a good conspiracy. The only thing odd here is you trying to start a fire at the bottom of the swimming pool. Ain't working for you ,bud. Come back when you have a VALID complaint.

Is OOOOH ooltewah? that aint how you spell that **** man.

the swimming pool is full of gasoline right now dude

now try to imagine that.... a pool full of gasoline

Its funny how some think they are recruiting experts. Where was your resume? Its one thing to have a rational opinion its another to think your opinion tops that of a coach.

Pittman, Chaney, and Hinshaw were solid. I think you'd be hard pressed to come up with a better group :disappointed:

Hinshaws coaching was weak. He had two of the best athletes at the receiver position in the country ...and neither of the could run a route to save their life. One of them even had the dropsies. On top of that , they were running simple routes in this system.

Dont confuse players natural ability with strong coaching
If he had had average receivers ...we would have been in a world of hurt, because they would not have improved.

A coach has to coach as well as recruit.
