Why is it now illegal to rag on dooley?

Dissing dooley has been a time-honored tradition on these boards for the past year, and rightfully so. But, now that he's been fired, the dooley folks (and others) have turned to attacking anyone who says anything bad about him. I for one personally moved on the second I heard he was fired, and have maybe left 1 negavol comment since. However, you can't be so naive as to think that no one is going to harbor resentment and/or residual animosity after this past season. Some folks literally seem to be getting self-satisfaction out of hammering anyone who says anything negative about dooley since the firing. I'm not going to name names, but I would be really surprised if I'm the only one who has noticed this (i'm sure ill get resistance on that part). Yes, I think dooley was a good guy who tried his best, but obviously that doesn't mean he was a good coach.

It's just a sign of low character to gloat over someone who just lost their job. Petty people kick others when they're down. Classy people wish the defeated well in their next endeavor and move on.

If the concept has to be explained, what's the point, people probably wouldn't get it anyway.. That being said, this is a message board and there are lots of things said here that probably shouldn't be..

I guess the best advice is to not post things on here that you wouldn't be willing to say to someones face if the opportunity presented itself..

Think about that one now......

Stupid thread, don't believe you didn't already know the answer before asking. Some people live to say "told you so" and have to b!tch, moan, complain, criticize, pontificate ad nauseum, apparently to feel good about themselves. Other find it classless and pointless to continue to bash a good person, family man who was fired, is history, and is somewhat disgraced despite best effort. What the hell do you not get about it?

I thought you had moved on.

I TOTALLY agree with the OP! Ive noticed it as well, and personally do not like being crucified for saying negative things about him! Its ridiculous! I have EVERY right to say whatever I want about that clown. He achieved all new lows for our beloved program...embarrassing new lows!! Arent you embarrassed Dooley Lovers? What has this guy put in the water in Knoxville to where you are so quick to defend him? Dooley deserves every negative/bad remark said about him in regards to coaching. He has dug us 6 more feet under, and some of you wanted him back for another year...HA HA HA HA HA HA!!

HONOR THY VOLS...CHERISH THEM...

Stick to butt chugging loser!

I can't imagine what the UTHFC was thinking to use such an analogy.

No one else seems to have problems understanding his meaning. Maybe you're just not very bright?

just stating an obsevation. Lol, you are so mad. Btw its called "reared" not "raised"

Btw it's 'observation' not 'obsevation'.

As long as we're correcting each other and not addressing the point of the thread...

Mmmkay, trolio?

Serious question: do you honestly not understand the reference and think Dooley was comparing the team to Nazi's?

After seeing his posts, can you honestly be surprised that he's not bright enough to understand the reference?

I found it to be humorous. But truthfully he was making fun of himself for not having his team prepared.

Exactly.

His biggest mistake was not realizing how many heads it would go over.

As this thread shows, some fans are just plain dumb.

And for a man as smart as Dooley, he could have thought of 10 more appropriate analogies without comparing the Vols to the Nazi army.

no, you're just not very smart. The analogy was perfect, and funny, and self-deprecating.

PS - I'm a veteran, btw..

lol

Every veteran I know thought it was hilarious. Maybe they're smart.

It was a bad analogy for a very smart man to say.

No, it was a perfect analogy, but he should have taken into account that a lot of fans aren't very bright.

it is indicative of how out of his depth he was at UT.

No, it's indicative of how much smarter he is than you.

It's pretty simple: I don't like Nazis.

Strange, as you seem to be a bit of a nazi.

Because he's been fired and continuing the assault on the man is childish.

I feel the same way about the clowns who still hate Kiffin. It's in the past, get over it.

I say we move on. That darkest part of vol history is now behind us. Let him go away in peace. He did the best he could. I think he wasn't ready to be hired for a job like this one. Now, hart needs to get the right guy and anyone with a pulse knows this is a make or break hire. Lets sit back and see what he can really do.

The man took a program in bad shape and made it worse. Let him have it. He deserves everything he gets...except the money he stole from UTAD impersonating a football coach.

Most of the noise about granting Dooley a measure of respect and class for sending this football program to the level of Kentucky comes from the very people who spent post after post after post defending him.

They don't want to be reminded just how wrong they were about him.

Say what you wish about Doolander. Those who've kissed his ass for the better part of three years can put you on ignore or take their bleeding heart DFL selves somewhere else.

To say the program is worse now than before Dooley is just wrong. Every publication I've read and every sports analyst I've listened to says this is a more attractive job because of CDD. We were right to term him now let's move on.

I agree Dooley has improved the program but we Have suffered some very humbling losses. I think back to the loss to LSU on the last play of the game because we had to many men on the field. Had Dooley won that game in his first year I think the program would be completely different. It always amazes me how one event can change the outcome of so many different events

It is a more attractive job because he was terrible. The next coach does not have a legend to follow...he only has the tiniest of all shoes to fill......not bashing, folks. Just facts, imo

I was critical of dooley and all for getting rid of him after the uk debacle. I have been critical of him all this year. That said why continue to drag him through the mud. Let's move on and try to get things headed in the right direction. I dont think dooley wanted to suck, he just wasnt cut out for the job. Move on.

Personally I agree with the one's who said it's time to move on. If you want to rag someone then rag Hamilton. Dooley took the job when no one else would. He did what any of us would do. I would take the job tomorrow and expect to be fired at seasons end. Show me the money. He may turn out to be an excellent coach one day but wasn't ready for the SEC.

So these folks retain their southern courtesy by dishing out personal attacks on people who diss dooley?

You deserve any and all attacks which come your way. I hope you enjoyed you 5th birthday this year. If you are older than 5, you are classified as retarded.

Some of the posters here on Volnation may decide to pay attention to the rules of the board. Specifically Rule #4.

4. Respect the coaches. Some of you may dislike current coaches or certain former coaches. It happens with each and every coaching staff and it's completely understandable. While legitimate criticism is always allowed, baseless bashing and the use of demeaning nicknames such as "Phil" are not necessary and don't add to the discussion.

I had to sit and watch his sorry ass quit on us for three years, then have the audacity to throw lame excuse after lame excuse to us like we're clueless.

This went on for 3 years. On top of it, every single penny I contribute to the University moving forward, a portion continues to go in his pocket.

He can quit being a ***** and get over it.

The day he ceases to draw a check from the University is the day I will cease to utter his name. As long as he continues to absorb our financial resources, fair game.
