I don't care if I ever hear the mans name again. I am/was one of the biggest Dooley bashers on this board. He's gone. No reason to speak of him again. I would rather forget the worst seasons in UT football history.

Am I allowed to bash all the people who went off on me the past year when I said Dooley was and is a complete fool?

Alas, the anonymity of the internet is a double-edged sword. It gives us the freedom to truly be ourselves, for better or worse, and to say things online that we wouldn't dare utter face-to-face. And, no, this observation isn't directed at any single person involved in this discussion.

I agree with you folks saying that there is no point in bashing him since he is fired. At the same time he has been gone less than a week. They have not even hired a new coach yet. Expecting people are going to stop ragging on him that fast after such an epic failure just isn't realistic. I was with Dooley up until the Miss St. game, I have heard I told you so a lot this week. Hating on the haters won't make them stop it just makes you sound like them.

I actually agree with this. I didn't like the analogy because if the Vols are the Germans, then by default bammer and Florida, etc, are the Americans, and no way no how is that true.

But truly it was not a big deal one way or the other. So....

I never found out if you were serious are not. I was just wondering how you can call someone classless before dishing out baseless personal attacks on not just said person, but also their momma. I just don't get the feeling that you "get" life.

Even tho I wanted him fired, he was the only one man enough to take the job that nobody else wanted with a depleted roster and a cheap administration...he is not a good coach but he is a human being..he has a family..why beat a dead horse..he is gone..did it in peace..maintained his composure and looked after the team til the end...whoever started this thread is an idiot and i cannot believe i wasted my time responding to this.

He wasn't doing charity work by taking the TN job...I'm sure he was salivating over it, and who could blame him? Just cause we couldn't pull in a gruden at the time doesn't mean that UT was a bad job by any means. It was a mess for sure, but it's not uncommon for a new coach to inherit a mess. I've never understood the logic that he deserves praise for taking a job that "no one wanted". I think that argument is flawed on every single conceivable level. Sorry I made you waste one of your 8 posts on this

Yeah, let us remember, he first got a text from Hambone about his interest in the UT job. He said (paraphrasing): "I was glad I knew how to text. I knew that winnowed out half of the HC profession."

He was gobsmacked, as he should have been.

I don't get it. Dooley's no longer our coach, why is everyone so hung up on him instead of focusing on the UK game and our future?

Some people just aren't happy unless they're complaining.. I feel bad for the upcoming new Coach.. people are going to find everything to complain about him..

Sure you are allowed to bash anyone you wish (on the anonymous internet forum you can be as brave or dumb as you wish). Just remember that all those people you are allowed to bash are also allowed to remind you (again) that if you are looking for a fool all you need to do is look in the mirror and start bashing what you see there.
