will muschamp will be floridas next coach

Link?
because what i am reading Muschamp was the only one offered. or at least the only one interviewed.

Petrino got a 7 year extension today, so I would think the reason why is because UF was interested in him. Muschamp wasn't their first choice.

Can you really blame him for not wanting the Tennessee job? It looks to me like not coming here was a pretty effective career move for him.

Not after Dooley owns him for 4 years and he loses his job. What are you talking about?

I'm talking about passing on a rebuilding project and 12 months later landing in one of the top 2-3 jobs in college football. Personally, I think it's a little bit of a reach for Florida, but you can't say that Muschamp didn't play his cards right.

Hmmm, not interested in the UT job, but takes the Florida job a year later. Don't like the guy already, and don't much about him.

I don't know much about his coaching ability, but it's well documented that he can't control his temper - never thought much of a coach who couldn't be cool. I'm not talking about being unemotional, but rather being able to remain cool when it's important to do so.

I like that video of him trying to bump one of his players on the Texas sideline and getting knocked down. I need to make that my avatar.

Maybe he needs to spend some quality time with Trooper...

The florida hire makes as about as much sense as if they would had hired Trooper. They both can chest bump, but Trooper isn't ready to be a head coach. Is Muschamp? Only time will tell, but its a risky hire for Florida, IMO.

Trooper is kinda sad really - he's almost reduced himself to head cheerleader status...

If Florida switches their offense to pro style or air raid like Texas, they are gonna have a rough few years.

No good wrs, no good rbs, the most overly hyped qb since Russell sheppard in john brantley

Love how everyone really wanted Muschamp last year, and now that Florida gets him he's unproven trash.

The Gators will continue to be formidable competition based solely on the talent level in state.

Nature of some on this board. If we got Him He would be a great coach. Now He is a utter failure. So funny.

Texas had arguably the most talent in the nation this year and they were awful. No bowl. That means their coaching wasn't good.

.hell yea, they have no excuse to be lame. top 5 class year in year out.

No its just the fact that uf. Could have Anyone they wanted pretty much, but chose to roll the dice.

ppl wanted him last year bc rolling the dice can sometimes save a down program ie. Mullin in miss st.

It was reported that he was interested until he looked at the schedule , roster and the bad situation we were in and changed his mind. That coach in waiting job looked alot better until this year. Now he goes to Florida. He wanted his head coaching job gift wrapped. He has a much better road at Florida than he would have at Tennessee last year. He took an easier road and yes he played his cards right. I'm not saying that anything is wrong with that either. You can choose an easy job or a difficult one. Most of us want things to be easier.

Leaving La Tech was an easy choice for Dooley , but he knew what he was getting into and wasn't afraid of the challenge. If Will infact suggested Coach Dooley all I can say is thanks. He wanted the job and the work it's going to take to get us turned around. By no means are we turned around , but we are much improved. Honestly , how many of us really thought we would make it to a bowl game this season? Not me. Not after starting out 2-6. The important thing to me is Tennessee has someone who wants to be here.

I wonder what Florida offered Muschamp that we didn't that made him decide to go to the swamp?

Dude think about it....HC in Texas you sell a name to a superior talent filled state of high school athletes.....they come in without breaking a sweat or giving it a second thought. Same in Florida as well. It is a much easier job to walk into and sell as far as getting great athletes goes.

I fear Georgia more now than Florida. We saw what Meyer put out on the field this season with the kids that were there from all those top rated recruiting classes. Now I don't see Muschamp and whatever staff he assembles doing any better with those kids than Meyer did.

Meyer > Muschamp X 100

He's also a huge departure from the Meyer mold making the restructuring they do deeper and more disorienting for their team. Then add Applewhite and you have the grand canyon of shifts for them.
Factor in CWM's temper, the stress of living up to Meyer's feats, his inexperience as a HC and you should have some fun.

If DD can't win our division in 2012 something is way wrong.

I personally feel MUCH better about our trip to The Swamp on 9/17/2011 after this announcement...

Here's to leaving there with an 8-game winning streak into an open date to recover from a Nice run....
