will muschamp will be floridas next coach

The great question I have is about recruiting......... When Dooley is up against Fla for a big time recruit and Muschamp says, "Yea, I know Coach Dooley, he's a good guy, I got him his job at Tenn, I wouldn't go there for the same reason you shouldn't"... well something like that... I am not totally sold on the hire but it has some interesting tidbits in our future. Hope Dooley proves to be the better coach. GBO

Dooley is building his reputation at Tennessee. As long a the results on the field continue to improve, then there is no argument there. It will take care of itself.

Derek Doley has 3-4 more years of experience as a head coach than Muschmap has. This job could have been Dooley's had he sat still and stayed on Saban's staff, but he chose to forge his own path instead of riding on Saban's coat tails.

When you get down to it, the Vols hired a coach with three years head coaching experience who knew the pitfalls of being a head coach.

Muschamp was an assistant coach at Texas, where they put their pants on one leg at a time. Muschamp will learn while on the job and nobody knows how he will fare. You can expect him to make a lot of mistake over the next couple of years. He has never had to create , work with , have total control over, and execute a game plan before.

The only ignorant thing that I have read in this thread is someone who thinks that Muschamp is great because he was the assistant coach and head coach in waiting at Texas.

Tux having head coaching experience isn't a "must" anymore. If you remember Bob Stoops also had no Head Coaching experience when Oklahoma decided to take a shot in the dark and hire an up and coming coach. How'd that turn out???

Why in the hell would Smart leave Bama for the same position at UF??

Smart and Muschamp are great friends. Both UGA guys, makes a lot of sense, James Willis is another name to watch. DC at Texas Tech under Tuberville and coached at AU with Muschamp. Lance Thompson knows Muschamp very well too. He is a good candidate to leave.

Love how everyone really wanted Muschamp last year, and now that Florida gets him he's unproven trash.

The Gators will continue to be formidable competition based solely on the talent level in state.

I agree there... Auburn, Miss state are two good examples of this

I hear what you are thinking, but I think we are in the best position as fans as we have been in a long time. It is our time to kick the **** outta FLA and do them all proper to get to the SEC. Aint it beautiful??? We got them now.......:birgits_giggle::birgits_giggle:

that was BEFORE his team went 5-7 and gave up nearly 30ppg against ranked opponents. Oh, and he didn't have comparable talent this year?

Ahhhhh, I wasn't aware of the Muschamp/Smart relationship. Hopefully CLT does not get offered the UF DC job!! Jesus, now I gave myself something to stress out about...

Now that it has come out that Applewhite will be his OC, I am much more confident that this won't end well for UF.

or the recruit ask him "you recommended DD for the UT job?" then Will says "well not actually, Mike Hamilton called me and said he wanted me to be the next HC at Tennessee and said the job paid $2M...I said hell only Derek Dooley would work for that kind of money...Mike said thanks then hung up"

I just heard this while watching the heisman presentation. I am shocked. First I can't believe its not Dan Mullen or even Charlie Strong. Second, I can't believe someone actually convinced him to leave Texas. They must have really thrown the cash at him. Honestly, IMO, we are much better off than if they had hired Mullen. Muschamp is a defensive coach, hopefully their offense continues to struggle. Go Vols.

Wow.. somebody actually watched the Hypeman presentation? Lemme guess... Cam in a landslide...

Will Muschamp's first action of course is bringing along Major Applewhite to become Florida's new Offensive Coordinator.

Very Zook-like hire if you ask me. Solid recruiter and assistant but not proven as a head man. Let's just hope he has a Zook-like tenure there.

I wonder how solid of a recruiter he is. Recruiting in Texas for Texas is like taking candy from a baby. Not much to it. Of course recruiting in Florida for Florida is about the same.

Major is probably in line for the Texas OC job too...this will be interesting.
