Worst Class Since?

Based on the assessment of people paid to evaluate recruits this could be the worst recruiting class we have had since the Kiffin -> Dooley offseason.

I hope I am wrong Trey Smith, Chandler and Gray will hopefully be great but d*mn! We just saw what Jones does with loaded classes, imagine when talent falls off!

Worst class and still ranked in the top 8. I'll take it.

FYI...you are ignorant!

So, 15th in the nation after having a disappointing season while having top ten classes the previous 3 years? Oh my god, we are doomed.

You dont win championships with recruiting classes in tye 15-20 range. As much as some want to believe you can, you just dont. That's especially true in the SEC.

TD, honestly ive lurked for a long time. Dont know you, so dont take this the wrong way. Every year with the start of the recruiting all star games, the big name kids start falling to the big schools by default. USC, Texas, Flarduh, and to OSU Bama and Mich cause theyre hot. Once that happens we get pushed out.

i dont doubt Butch is a good recruiter but you gotta be elite. We have the #1, not 2, #1 budget in the entire US and A for recruiting. there should no reason to not have a top 10 finish each and every year. None. i get it kids want to go play in different places. Whats telling to me is the amount of big time kids in state that go elsewhere.

anything less than top five im not ok with. inside too ten, meh. outside top ten. unacceptable. period.

We will never be a championship team until we have a strong two deep on both the oline, dline and lb. This was not going to be our year without a lot of luck and no injuries. Well, we got the luck in games early, but injuries on oline and dline killed us late.

Truth, and for the life of me I can't understand why this is such a hard concept for so many people.

Exactly, and everyone knows this, but some just have a hard time acknowledging it on VN.

I think we finish around 12-14...which will certainly be a let down based off the last couple of years but not as bad as the kiffin year. I think it'll
Likely be similar to butch's fist year. The problem is that he's had an a lot of time to put this one together as opposed to a few months like the first one. It's tough to see virtually all of our rivals ahead of us

And don't forget you can't count Trey Smith, because ANYONE could have signed the in state 5*.

Jones has closed well every year so far, and expect we will finish strong TY...prob in the 12-15 range...while certainly getting a top 10 rating from some outlier service, so we can point to another top 10 class!!!

Your first sentence is just completely looney. You cannot count Trey Smith? Thats dumb. So LSU couldnt count Fournett in their class just because he was a 5* instate talent? Please.

Some want to say star gazers blah, blah blah but facts defeat all. The quality of the recruits you get is probably the biggest factor in winning championship.

Cam Akers and Yusuf Corker would put this class at #7, just ahead of FSU,

UT's class is nearly filled, while others are just now ramping up. Anyone referencing the current rank simply doesn't understand the process.

Last time I checked, rankings in December mean jack.

I hope UT closes with Ray, Akers, Corker, and the OL from SC whose name escapes me. But referencing top 10 before Jan shows orange bias to a fault.

Western Civ 101 (or whatever number), Fall 99. What a bunch of empiric bull**** and half truths.

I agree with that 100% but...

Problem is you aren't gonna recruit top 5 classes consistently if you aren't playing for championships.

Right now the 10-15 range is what we have to be happy with. We need to recruit enough talent to get to Atlanta and/or get to a NY6 bowl. Then take the next step.

This coming year is huge for Butch. I think he will either finish next year with a great season or he will get fired.

Butch really needs a good season next year, or I think we all can probably agree that the recruiting will take a nose dive!

WE are 10 and 11 in the recruiting right now there is 4 or 5 that is on the list now come NSD there will be 6 or 7 more player's and a couple like last year that will flip to us like Byrd, Johnson in saying that we need to WIN the Bowl game bad and if we do we will be between 8th and 12th, i think DD BEST YEAR WAS ABOUT 28TH AND ONE YEAR 34TH, in any other conference we would be rated 2nd or 3rd and the fans would be raving about how well the class was pump the BRAKES NSD is still a ways of, dont abort the mission yet dont:mf_surrender:yet.

Dooley's classes were ranked 9 (2010), 13 (2011), and 17 (2012) on rivals. The 2013 class was ranked 21, but that was a Dooley/Butch combo.

You know some folks would complain wth a National championship every year!

Well no. But, I would bet the farm that immediately following the national championship game that we just won more than one pumper will start a thread calling out supposed negavols.

Stars obviously don't win national championships then.

You have to have a decent staff st least. Dooley was pathetic. Butch and his staff suck but not nearly as bad as Dooley. So you're right stars alone don't win championships if requires a staff that can develop players which we don't have with Butch and co
