Would you still want pearl gone if he didn't lie?

If he is fired he will meet & beat a Vol team in the future. Book it, 'cause he'll be snatched up by a good program who wants a winner. Meanwhile, the haters here will no doubt bring back "buzzball" or something worse.
Yeah, they'll line up to hire him the same way everyone clamored to hire the piece of trash when he taped a conversation with a 17 year old. He'll be a real hot commodity.

Ya mean like Fulmer? Oh wait, Fulmer hasn't coached since being fired...hmmmm.

Bruce will be fortunate to ever coach a D1 program again. He got his big break with UT and blew it.

Id rather win lots of games and win big games, than "look well coached"

Good luck with that strategy.

Just testing your point...wasn't Sunday's game against UK a big game? Wasn't last year's game against Mich State a big game, the biggest of his career? Haven't all of the SEC tournament games he's lost been big games?

By all accounts the Heat have unparalleled talent but a glaring lack of coaching. Which is my point.

No they don't. Other teams have more good players than the Heat and their coach, according to guys that forgot more than 99.999999999% of the posters on this board know, is pretty darn good. I heard at least 3 different opinions from well respected analysts say he is a talented young coach.

Nope not nearly as big as some of the games that he has won.

How many of those big game wins were for SEC tourney title? How many for NCAA title? How many to advance us to a final four?

So other than being nationally televised and fun to watch what exactly did those 'big games' actually bring us?

Spoelstra didn't call for fade away 3's in those situations.

Neither did Pearl, presumably. What's the point of having a coach if he can't get his players to take a good shot when the game's on the line?

Do Gregg Popovich's players do what he wants at the end of a game? Do Krzyzewski's? Would Bill Self have let that Oklahoma State game happen? Etc. Some coaches have control of their teams, and some don't.

Did I read that right? The Michigan State game in the Elite 8 to get to the Final 4 wasn't a big game?

The Oklahoma State game wasn't a big game, and the Wichita State game wasn't a big game, and the giant 17-point choke job against Ohio State wasn't a big game either. Nonconference wins in December and January are much more important.

So shooting the ball is the only component of a basketball player. His overall game developed. I am not advocating Pearl sticking around. I am saying he's much better at developing players than some of you experts think.
...

[deleted second part of quote for excessive silliness

Assists, turnovers, rebounding, etc. all stayed about the same for all four years. Slight improvement in defense. Drove a little better by senior year. Again... monkey as coach = same results.

Your 2nd paragraph is well off. Coach K, Self and all coaches and players make mistakes every game. To insinuate that Duke's players always do exactly as instructed is absolutely wrong. The D can make you adjust and players have to adjust on the fly and make plays, period. Duke's players play hard and shoot the rock, which makes a big difference. Though they shot @ 30 3's the other day and hit next to none in a loss to UNC. Coach K let that happen. Bill Self let UT happen last year and we had nobody's on the floor. BP isn't in the same category as those guys, who are the best, but they make mistakes as well.

His attack to the basket was exponentially better by his senior year. It was more notable from freshman to sophmore and sophmore to junior.

Whatever you say. I am not searching for an affirmation of my opinion in this forum.

Duke shoots 38 percent from three this year. When you're that good, you can keep shooting. UT was the worst three-shooting team in the tourney in 2009. When you're that bad, you don't. Add in the huge size advantage we had and that's when bad coaching becomes absolute idiocy.
