Wow I am suprised about all the negative posters here.

DO'nt argue logic with him...you'll get a three page novel expanding what could be said in three sentences, just to beat you into submission to his opinion.

Jealousy is one of the weaker arguments my MHF. That's saying a lot.

Aside from lack...means part two...

So what you are saying is basically that coaches hate Bruce Pearl because of the media attention he gets?

Jealousy...

I wouldn't call it jealousy or hate, more like contempt for someone who is average at his profession, and gets treated like a rock star. Most elite coaches I see tend to be more into the coaching business, as opposed to the entertainment business. You can throw out all the stats you want, but I can see with my own eyes the last 5 years of terrible half court play in meaningful games.

All of this is hypothetical though, as I don't know any coaches, so I can't say for sure. I know this is how I would feel if I was one of his peers. I am sure Hat knows what the others say, and can let us know if I am off base, or what.

The three guys who have the least use for Pearl are his age or younger.

All of the retired oldsters in Vegas hate him,
3 young guys hate him...

poor bruce. I am glad that CBB is not a popularity contest. I hope he gets buy in on pressure D, they make a Final Four by causing 25+ turnovers per game in the NCAAs and he is the toast of the tourney.

Billy D was one of the most hated coaches in America until his team fell off the face of the earth.

Oh no! Bruce Pearl is a guy who the Pump brothers think the world of!

There has never been a stain on them.

You could blow his cover again Hat with your rumblings about the time he spends in OCI on the strip, and how you have seen him at various restaurants until late in the night and talked to servers and waitresses about him...probably your best expose in the history of the site.

Nothing wrong with these two fools. Nothing at all.

Emain, Texas "Vol," Big Papa "Vol," and hat"vol"96 are just a waste of time!! They're haters! Nothing more and nothing less!!!

Exactly. Let's run those guys out of here and lean on the basketball heavyweights whose main argument is about our pathetic hoops history. Give me more.

Yeah, it's not like a bunch of coaches lost their Final Four ticket privileges because those fine gentlemen weren't smart enough to realize walking around hotels telling prospective buyers that they could "buy Coach X's tickets" was a bad idea. It's not like Raw Recruits didn't expose them as being a half rung above Vic Adams on the slime ladder. They're fine, upstanding guys.

Why? Because we showed you that your arguments wouldn't even hold up to your own standards? You should be thanking us for the education.

you proved very little, actually. Sorry Pearl isn't up to hall of fame standards. UT should just go get one of those off the street!! They're frickin everywhere!!

Please show me where any of us stated that Bruce Pearl should measure up to Hall of Fame standards

You are using the same tired strategy that the rest of your ilk uses. Blast us for stuff you are clearly wrong about, then make things up that you know damn well none of us said and hope it sticks long enough for MHF or one of the other sheep comes to your rescue. It's ridiculous.

I would settle for some decent half court play on both ends of the floor right now. I hope that is not asking too much for someone that makes 2 mil.

Wouldn't you rather it be exciting though? I mean, god knows decent halfcourt ball can't possibly be entertaining.

Wayne Chism down on the block scoring at will against Purdue while their Big Guy was in foul trouble would have excited me. Some pick and roll with him and Scotty would be cool too. These are just minor basic things that would make me happy, there are many others.

I am 100% with you.

See. You hit the nail on the head there. Pearl brings with him that others can't: Sweat; a furrowed brow; his classic "this is so unbelievable I have to chuckle" face; and who can forget non-stop off court boozing!

Never mind about the boozing on second thought. Seems to be a pre-req for CBB coaches.

There really is no reason for your cheap shots.

I have now developed a consensus on this board from those who like Bruce Pearl, those who dislike him, and those who hate him, that TN is not a top 15 basketball job.

We have top 15 pay, we have top 15 attendance, but we have no history and no players in the NBA, or star quality NBA players.

I have tried to engage in civil discussion and a few people now have done just that including Basketvolsfan, BPV and Hardwood fanatic. I do not know why you will not come on board.

I am attacked as a hater by some, and you call me a sheep.

Bruce Pearl needs to get to the Elite 8 this year for me to be happy. Bruce also needs to develop Smith and Chism so that both are drafted and if not he has really failed at player development barring some kind of injury to either man.

Bruce also consistently struggles in halfcourt offense and defense. I blame the assistant who was supposedly brought in to shore that up, but the ultimate responsibility rests with the H.C.

Not sure how that makes me a sheep.

By the way, I did watch both the Indiana Pitt game (until just now) and prior to that, the Vanderbilt beat down by Illinois.

It was the best shooting of the season for Illinois and some of it was contested, but that is not what that loss should be blamed on. Unless Ogilvy is hurt, he is one of the softest and most embarrassing talents in the SEC in quite a long time.

Jenkins started 0-6 but he showed at the end more of what he will show this year. I think he will end up unlike Scotty Hopson getting more aggressive as the season wears on his freshman year.

I do not think the war is over yet in terms of SEC strength, but these two wins OOC just went a long way towards destroying my argument that the Big 10 is inferior to the SEC.

I doubt you will see others admit they are wrong about Florida and Arizona, but to each his own.

Gary Williams makes Pearl look like an amateur when it comes to breaking a sweat on the sidelines.
