2014 DL without Lambert

So basically, you completely lack a filter and everything you say is just a more emotional version of the most recent news? Good to know that I don't need to bother reading any more of your posts.

Feel free to continue venting on here. I'm sure it's very therapeutic. I just don't intend to waste my time reading or replying anymore.

Ah, man. I'm going to miss all the great discussions we used to have...wait, who are you?

He's a JUCO. Who cares? Most of them don't pan out. He won't amount to anything. He can go to Auburn where he will play 40 minutes a game and give up 40 points per outing.

Out of 34 recruits? Probably in the top 5.... perhaps top 2-3 given he was considered our best DL recruit since DL is such a position of need. Jmo.

didn't our other juco DL recruit make Juco all American and Lambert didn't?
I could be mistaken, which would of course be the first time.

Who cares! If he wasn't 100% commited to play for TN we dont need him anyways.

Yeah he sounds like an opportunist. What he doesn't realize is at Auburn he will be on the field 40+ minutes a game while giving up 30-40 points a game. Auburn will never field a good D because of their offense--they give the ball up too quickly. Plus Auburns offense won't last long. Once the conference zeros in on their scheme they will be back to an average team. But Auburn is good for the conference--they will force the rest of us to learn defensive fundamentals. Auburn has a short shelf-life.

This! The team in the NCG had to pay to get his commitment? Then what did the 5-7 team have to do to get it?

If you have ever been to Auburn, it pretty much rivals Starkville. Nothing there. They must have great facilities because their stadium sucks and they are in the middle of nowhere. The fact that a recruit would even consider them over us baffles me. Once Malzahn's offense runs its course they will revert back to mediocrity.

I am also worried this last minute flip will be a sign of things to come as TN sits home and other teams are on TV and bowling. Going to take one hell of a recruiting job to keep from losing anyone else. Barn fights dirty and will be ready to steal our guys if Butch isn't ready to ButchSlap Gardner and the gang for getting close to our guys!

That's what one of the afternoon shows on tsr said 'he might like urban areas', oh well we are not in that bad of shape.

Not sure Sparta. I know that Lambert is ranked the #1 JUCO DL/DE in the country. Not sure where Williams and Mixon rank. I do think you're right about Owen Williams ... think I recall reading he recently won an award, not sure what.

We also have Weatherd coming in, the #1 ranked JUCO LB in the country.

Edit: he was named 2nd JUCO All American

On the plus side, alot of posters here just added to their excuse stack

Ok thanks for the info. I honestly don't know anything about the recruiting side.

In a nut shell...the day after NSD find the list of ACTUAL signees, not commits, and go over there and do research on who the future of our team will be. Otherwise u r pretty much just stalking...I mean discussing every little thing a bunch of teenage boys do on a daily basis.

Somewhat surprisingly, I largely agree with you on Auburn's offense. There will be a lot of defensive coordinators thoroughly dissecting that offense in the offseason. When they make the appropriate adjustments, it is going to take more than three basic running plays, run from a multitude of formations (which, according to Malzahn, accounted for 80% of the running plays against Alabama) and a passing game utilized only 10-15 times a game to generate the same level of offensive effectiveness.

Jaylen Miller came in lat year at 265.if he has put on any weight at all he could very easily be 280 and see playing time at the SDE.....its not the end of the world..If lambert doesnt want to be a Vol then let him go.....

Miller actually lost weight to get down to around 240-245

I think we need to get over the idea that a Quick Fix is what this team needs. Sure we would like to be of the final four type teams next year in our fantasy thoughts. Reality is we need a number of sound positive years with more wins each year and build to the Tennessee of Old. A contender year in and year out!

Isn't Auburn after Weatherd too?

I don't know of a single poster on here who expects us to be in the final four next year.

But if we want "sound positive years", I think we need to sign good recruits to have those, right? Or did you think 5-7 this year was solely due to coaching and we have plenty of talent already?

Isn't Auburn after Weatherd too?

A number of teams, according to Weatherd himself on Dave Hooker's Show yesterday, are still calling him. But he maintains he's not interested in them and only wants to play for Tennessee.
