Don't think anyone said it was bad. I'd agree it could be a big plus but I think it's irrelevant if the coach is not delivering results. Players like to win above all else is my take, not relate else few would play for Saban and Trooper Taylor would be HC somewhere.

I'm glad to have a black head coach. I think it will pay dividends in the south. With his upbringing and life experience I believe he may win some key recruiting battles. I know race shouldn't matter, but it does. I think when in the living room of a top prospect, possibly talking to a single mother, his story and experience will be more convincing than the $10k Cheatapari is offering.
At the end of the day, I think Bruce was well liked by his players, but I don't think that they had the respect for him that they should for a head coach. Counzo will be both I think.
GBO!
can you give an example of a coach who has used his blackness to his benefit?
This is true. And it will always be true because KY fans demand that their program compete for championships, while UT fans are satisfied with mediocre results. If Martin turns to be a good coach and goes to a couple of final fours his next stop will be Purdue.Kentucky Basketball is always on the minds of Tennessee fans. The new coach couldn't get through his press conference without fielding Kentucky questions. The Wildcats are the elite program and the measuring stick for other programs to compare.

You are in LA. I'm talking about Memphis politics and predjudices and the perception by some Memphis coaches of The Hill. I'm not talking about history. I don't give stats. I don't have a freaking link. I'm not talking about freaking Nick Saban. What a terrible comparison. You aren't going to be able to understand if that's your comparison.

+1 Seemed like basic common sense. Also the caliber of jobs that are genuinely offered to minority candidates.
so what you are saying is you dont' have a single piece of evidence to back up your assertion. surely if this was a factor you could come up with one example of superior recruiting by black coaches. calipari seemed to do A OK with recruiting in memphis. is that a terrible comparison?
so black is automatically associated with a single mother? racist.
Like I said previously, you are incapable of understanding the entire issue. I'm not talking about Cal. I'm not talking about other coaches. I'm talking about UT now having an African American coach and UT will be looked at now, rather than being immediately scratched off the list, by some players and coaches because of it. Problem is that Anderson just moved too and he's closer. You need to branch with your thoughts a little and quit searching for something that doesn't pertain to the point.
