I just don't see Golden as being the home run hire we need. I'm only one person tho, and if he were to get the job he would have my support. I'd just like to see others chosen before him. I've also heard the same about Fisher, but it looks as though he may have to replace his OC and DC at FSU which would leave a prime time for him to jump ship and take a better contract somewhere else.

The only "homerun" hire out there right now is Gruden and that only to the extent that his fame would immediately put UT on the radar for great recruits. There is no guarantee he wants to put the time and effort into recruiting that is needed so even that advantage might fade.

He's a great coach but he isn't the only great coach.

If the break down really is over how much to pay assistants then why not spend big money on assistants rather than the HC?

Why not go out and hire Fisher, Fedora, Roman, or even Golden then make every one of his assistants the highest paid in the country?

Wouldn't homerun "hires" be better than a homerun "hire"?

Jimbo Fisher is a piece of s--t as a coach. He couldn't even beat the same crappy NC State team that Dooley whipped by 2 TD's. With the talent Fisher has available at FSU, he should never lose a freakin' game. Furthermore, if he wasn't in the state of Florida, he wouldn't be able to recruit worth a crap.

Come on ppl, it would've been awesome to hire Gruden but it wasn't realistic. Let's start creating rumors and national headlines about Jim Mora Jr to Tennessee or Jimbo Fisher to Tennessee..

Golden/Strong may be great a few yrs down the road but they won't have immediate impact some of these other coaches will have. And I'm gonna be honest, I don't have the patience to wait another 3-4 yrs to see their results. BRING ON JMJr!!

You do realize that not everyone can be the AD, Head Coach, Chancellor, etc at their alma mater, right? People that think Hart is not doing a good job in an attempt to undermine Tennessee as an Alabama grad are naive at best.

Hart is getting paid well to be the AD for The University of Tennessee. That is his JOB. If he does poorly, he loses his job and can't pay his bills, buy the things he is accustom to buying and living the lifestyle he wants.

Please stop with the thoughts that it is a conspiracy. Is the only reason you think the university needs to fire Hart becasue he is not running the search the way you would like to see it run? Sorry, not your call how the search plays out.

Completely disagree.

We have every reason to believe our big boosters, including Peyton Manning, have put both their reputations and money on the line to get Gruden.

Hart has done nothing to manage fanbase expectations at the most critical juncture of our football program since we hired Johnny Majors.

Hart has set himself up for Gruden or EPIC FAIL.

Fisher is no great shakes as a HC. FSU choked this year, given its talent and the fact they're in the ACC (All Crap Conf)

Dave Hart has now become a joke. We need strong leadership while facing this adversity and the joker that is Hart has done NOTHING.

What the heck has he been doing these pasts couple weeks and why hasn't he shot down these rumors (Grumers) sooner? I fine it harder and harder with each passing day to support the leadership of our University.

I totally understand how all the Vol fans saw Gruden as the savior. I had reservations all along because of recruiting and Gruden's style. Honestly, I thing Gruden is a fame w---- and just wanted the attention. I don't believe he was ever serious. He just played the game until it was "put up or shutup" time. I think Hart knew all along that it was never meant to be with Gruden. That's why he laid the foundation with the top 3 or 4 coaches on his list. While I don't know his list, I'm guessing 1# Fisher, #2 Butch Jones, #3 Mullen, and #4 Strong. I also wouldn't rule out Mora. I believe either of these will bring the Vols back to where we want them. I also think they will be here longer that Gruden would ever have been. Keep the faith Vol Nation.:)

What I am afraid of (Hart) look at our defensive this last year look at his choice (Sal) and look what that got us. Just saying he had apart of that. And if he had apart that what is he going to do this time. Also I read Gruden declined but is there official statement audio/video that says this or is this just rumor also. Just wondered I guess out loud.

No he doesn't need to come out and shoot all rumors down. He needs to lead this program back to prominence and sitting behind his desk and not saying anything is going to get us nowhere. Obviously you have never lead an organization.

Perception is reality. When a fan base perceives Gruden to become our next coach and Hart says nothing after weeks of rumors, he is setting the fan base up for disappointment and questioning his ability to lead.

Hart's hasen't even made a decision yet and already folks have thier pitch forks out ready to burn down everything in sight.Simmer down people. Great things take time to put together.
