No problem, and I actually agree. I just don't agree it should be at Tennessee. Those kids who get kicked off don't transfer back to the original school to receive all the bells and whistles with their second chance. They burnedthat bridge and move on to another locale.
That said, if somehow BP ends up back on the bench for UT, I'll be the loudest cheerleader for Tennessee just the same.
Splitting hairs.
The Pettaway kid who Saban kicked off for Aggravated burglary went to JC for a year and resigned with Bama. So it does happens with kids.
If Ainge had said "The people I've talked to have said there's no chance Pearl is coming back", then the main reaction here would be "He has no idea what he's talking about"; and I know this because several other Knoxville media people like Wes Rucker have stated this over and over and that's been the main reaction around here.
I'm saying it's not credible because he's given nothing to indicate it's credible, other than he's talked to "someone". I'm not saying he couldn't end up being right, I'm saying based on what he's actually said, the substance is nothing more than glorified rumor.
Haha...okay. They're only the fundamental differences in the two scenarios.
-Pearl was fired for lying to NCAA investigators.. Petrino left on his own accord, for a better job no less.
-Pearl received a show-cause and placed Tennessee on NCAA probation. Petrino was implicated in improper moral behavior (sans any NCAA trouble) two jobs and six years after leaving Louisville.
-Pearl hasn't worked since being fired (because of his penalties). Petrino has held three HC jobs in eight years since leaving Louisville originally.
If that is "splitting hairs", then you have an extremely liberal definition of the term.
Bad things aside, Bruce did more for this program than ANY coach in the history of UT...Yes that includes Ray Mears who set the standard for excellence for UT basketball...I think Bruce has learned his lesson so hey lets give him a big ole hug and bring him back and get back to winning SEC titles and contending for national titles...I'm all in...Bring Bruce Back!
If we don't someone else will. That's always been odd to me. A player is kicked/coach is kicked out of one place and never allowed back. Yet across state lines the other school gives the proverbial "2nd chance" (or 3rd or 4th). Life goes on as normal.
Your screen name hahahaa
It's funny that any time someone disagrees with me they always bring up my username. Even though I've said multiple times that I don't support our coach now. Sorry that at the time I was young and stupid for making this name. But I did support Pearl here and I did root for him. But it's funny that people say we'd be competing for national titles here with him when we made it to one elite 8. Ben Howland is a way better coach than Bruce and is more likely to be hired than Bruce. So instead of settling with a coach that has only made one elite 8, let's go after a coach that's put players in the nba and that has been to 3 Final 4's.
Dude we were contending under Pearl. I guess that just depends on your definition of contending.
What makes you think Howland would want to come here? He is just as much of a long shot as Bruce, except that Bruce would want to be here.
They keep bringing up Howland, a coach who has a lifetime winning percentage about equal to Martins. If you are not going to upgrade then why bother changing coaches. Howland could't recruit the same city his university was in so what does that say?
