Another update on FBI corruption case..

The federal charges aren't strictly about "kids getting paid." They are about assistants who are taking money to steer kids to certain agents and advisors. Kids getting money can certainly be an NCAA issue, but I don't believe the Feds will ever come after the kids. At this point, the NCAA is only going to have time to look at the most egregious violations, and right now, that involves federal crimes. With the way the system is set up, there will always be kids receiving some sort of extra benefits, and there are actually ways to give benefits that aren't necessarily in violation of the rules.
How all the violations are happening has everything to do with kids getting paid. This is about manipulating kids to make decisions and the most tragic part is the mindset you give a 17 or 18 year old kid. I am sure this runs deeper than anyone knows expect the Feds atleast at this point. I would think they would still hold some cards back from the initial release of information.

I kinda just want this to come out, especially before March if possible. I have a pretty high confidence that UT hasn't been involved in this (since Tyndall, anyway) based on the star ratings of players we are getting as well as where they are from. In addition, listening to John Brice talk about it made it seem pretty unlikely that we would be involved as it doesn't seem like it will go back more than 4 years.

If a bunch of teams got disqualified giving us a good path to the final 4, I think that would be best case scenario.

Man I hope not. I like Bruce Pearl. Can't believe he would be stupid enough to cheat again.

Pearl is a clown always was. He won games here and people loved him but he is as slimy as they come. Not to mention a tattle tail. He got what was coming to him here and will get what is coming to him at Auburn. He will make Tyndall look like a choir boy. Bruce Pearl will have a lifetime ban if he actually gets busted.

Is North Carolina finally going to get busted??? This time it’s the FBI doing the investigation and not the corrupt NCAA

No I imagine even if they paid recruits the NCAA will say the school and Roy Williams didn't know and so are not to blame. If they got out of that last disaster no way they can't escape again no matter the violations.

I have no problem believing that Bruce made some payouts at Auburn. I mean Auburn is not exactly a elite program in basketball and he did some mighty fancy recruiting down there. Looks like they are about to win the SEC for the first time in forever.

Actually right now looks like they are trying to implode.

I wouldn't put much faith in the FBI they are the laughing stock in law enforcement and have been for years because of their inability to conduct a competent investigation.

Don't you mean the NCAA. The only reason the FBI got involved is because the NCAA brought them into this by request. It was too hot of an investigation and they were afraid of stepping on toes and taking out high profile programs. Henceforth, turned it over to the FBI.

If we had to guess some of the programs my list would include.....

UNC
Duke
Louisville
Michigan State
UK
Syracuse
Cal
Arizona
UCLA
Auburn
Ohio State

Please explain the difference between an incompetent NCAA and an incompetent FBI?

Either way don't get too excited that something will happen. Neither the FBI or NCAA have the best reputation regarding enforcement.

You didn't understand what I said. The federal charges are more than just kids getting paid. As long as the amateur system is in place, kids will receive extra benefits, whether it's small or big. With the federal allegations, the coaches are getting paid as well and steering the kids to certain advisors, not just paying a kid to attend a university.

Extra benefits will continue in various ways in football and basketball.

Oh sorry just a quick glance. I totally agree. I also think that their are other unintended consequences from those decisions to push certain schools.
