You're nuts. Put it like this. In a one on one Johnson can't beat Barton and has NEVER beat him. Period. JJ is the hometown brotha. Don't get me wrong he's a baller and will play pro ball but Barton is a better baller and more mature on the floor. He got caught in the middle of hometown favortism. Bottom line. Granted there are those who may not believe but I've seen these two head to head and Barton is much better.

Just looking at steals Barton had 22 in 400 minutes played and Trae had 7 all season(800+ mins).
Trae slightly better in rebounding which doesn't say much for either one in that dept.

Not saying Barton wont help us but to say Jackson starts because he is a Memphis guy is way off base. If that were the case Crawford would get most of the 2 minutes and Black wouldn't be leaving. Jackson is a much better player and that's no disrespect to Barton.

I call it off of what I know firsthand. This was a Memphis lean over Barton. Barton is a better player and he's much more vocal at the point. However JJ can play. I take nothing from him. If you give Barton the same minutes there's no drop off but more wins.

Thanks for the response. As long as his defense is good and he doesn't turn the ball over a crazy amount then i will be ecstatic .

Trade allows a bad shooting night to affect his whole game which affected everyone else. Barton wont let that happen. He will set McRae, Stokes and Maymon up first. He gets the players involved BUT if he has the open shot he takes it. Defensively he will shut down his man because he's very aggressive which Trae lacked. He also wont bring the ball up court lazily or allow his emotions to be seen by the world. You'll see.

Good point guy. I have mentioned similar a couple of times. Hope this dont sound like Trae bashin, but IMO he was the biggest reason for the consistancy issues we had last year. We dont need a 20-30pt a game scoring pg. We just need somebody to manage the offense(get other guys involved and score when open), handle the ball(aka limit turnovers), and play solid defense.

Jinx alert:
No way this years team has even 1 game scoring in the 30's. Thats right I said it..... wha wha cha gonna do???

Golden might be a better player, but he is a complete liability at PG, which is where he was being asked to play. Barton is much better in the areas where we need improvement from that position (defense, shooting, & decision-making). He might not be the best PG in the SEC, but he is a major improvement over Golden in all those areas. If you don't see that, you haven't been paying attention.
