Butch Jones needs to own this!!!!!!!!!!

Let's stop the nonsense and endless excuses about Worley. This staff brought in 2 highly touted QB's who are supposed to perfectly fit his system. Show us what they can (Manziel won the Heisman as freshman for a new coach, right)? Also, didn't everyone keep saying Dobbs is so smart that he can learn the playbook and system in no time - I remember reading about how intelligent he is - so let's see what he has learned so far.

Another less than factual statement. Manziel was a Redshirt Freshman.

You don't burn the redshirts on either one unless it's an absolute must. This team is in contention for nothing this year.

BTW, Manziel was a REDSHIRT freshmen last year.

Why do we want to redshirt 2 guys that, if they suck, Butch will recruit over (hopefully) in 2 years anyway. Why are we not getting experience for a QB that is one play away from being our starter? Butch and staffs handling of the QB situation this year has been mind boggling.

in my humble opinion, there are several factors going on,as to why it looks so bad for the Vols right now

a lack of talent and quality depth,is the first,it will take several years of excellent recruiting, which CBJ and staff seem able to do

the 2nd one is a new staff and yes,it does take time for them to get the players, running the new schemes effectively

3rdly the new staff needs to be given time to adjust to the SEC,there is a definite learning curve for them too

at a guess as to why we haven't seen the freshmen quarterbacks, they need a year of strength and conditioning for the SEC and the time to be fully acclimated to CBJs new system,I am guessing that one of Petermen or Worley will leave next year also,so in the long run,it will be better to keep the freshmen red shirted this year if he can

If we don't play better than we did today, I don't see another win...3-9 season....and no I don't think we beat Kentucky on the road
We'll be better next year, because we can't be any worse

I agree. This was clearly on the coaches. For the first time, I actually wouldn't be surprised to see 8 loses. Our team was out-coached, luckily we had the talent to make up for the coaching.

So let me get this straight. Our coaches knew how to coach in the first half when we were stomping a mud hole in their ass in, but forget how to coach in the second half?

Some of our fans blow my mind.

You win the games you're supposed to win. So far we've done that. That hasn't always been the case these past three years....

It's looked very ugly at times, but a win is a win. Hardly any of us predicted we'd be 4-0 at this point, so I'm wondering why so many are surprised and/or pissed.

I feel like this is redundant, but I'll say it again: New coaching staff, new offensive & defensive systems, not an SEC-caliber roster overall, rough schedule. How many teams are actually dealing with this??

Also, people overlook the fact that it's not just the players that have to adapt to the system. The coaching staff has to adapt their systems to both the players they have and what will work against SEC defenses. If you think they don't have somewhat of a learning curve as well, you're living in fantasy land.

All the reasons above are why I'm staying faithful and patient. While it's ugly, I do see constant improvement each week. I expected ups and downs, but as I've always heard, if you stick with it and stay positive, it gets greater later!

WE. WILL. BE. FINE!!! GBO!!

Again, I wonder if Bama fans wanted to fire Saban after he LOST to Lousiana Monroe his first season at Bama? It's called rebuilding for a reason bunch of morons!!

Lost to ULM, I might add, with vastly superior talent to what Butch put on the field against South Alabama today.

Everyone saw plainly and clearly just where the talent level is on this team when they played Oregon. As much as we don't want to admit it, we're not that much better than a good Sun Belt team right now. And one more thing...as mediocre as Worley is, if you score 31 points and barely beat a Sun Belt team, your quarterback is far from your biggest problem.

obliterating UT in the same season bought him at least one more year

play calling was terrible. Why run read option if QB never keeps it. Whorly kept it once gained thirteen yards, it is open a lot more than that. Defense just slides into place every time, if they know QB will not keep it. In all my years of watching FB never saw a holder block a FG because he left his off hand in the way. Do not understand the QB situation. Why not give a freshman a series or two. Couldn't understand why he stayed with Peterman so long last week. Why try to red shirt both. Personally do not think Whorly will be able to take all snaps against the next few teams. Is he afraid the other three will transfer? If they are not as good as Whorly, we need to be recruiting another QB this year. I really like Butch but wander about OC and QB coach. Looked rough today hope it gets better.

In the second half we ran 12 times and passed 14. This isn't including the last drive of the game where we ran 3 times to run out the clock. Why the hell are we throwing the ball 14 times in the 2nd half when we were running the ball and averaging 7 ypc.? I especially enjoyed the series where we threw 3 incomplete passes in a row, ran almost no time off the clock and gave the ball right back to USA. Incompetent.

Please remind me how much that game experience Worley had coming into this season has helped him out?

As I said before, we're not in contention for anything (other than trying to avoid 8 losses for the first time) this year, so why not go into next year with Dobbs and Ferguson both having 4 years left to play?

A lot of people on here were all hot and bothered about giving Peterman a chance and look how that turned out. Let the coaches coach. If after three years they aren't getting the job done, then all the Gruden is on final approach to Knoxville with Lovie Smith on board threads can start again.

Recruit over? Doubt it. When it comes to QB, we're gonna have to go into battle with what we've got right now. Even assuming Butch gets a stud 2015 QB, that kid is currently a junior in HS and won't be at full effectiveness until 2017. That's 4 full years from now.

Because it doesn't make any sense and we need a QB THIS YEAR. It is pretty basic.

So a freshman QB is going to save the season with all the other problems this team has?

If the staff thought that we were a QB away from an 8 win season, then I'm sure they would be playing one of them. We're a long way from that and most likely will be just as far away from it next year.

So we have a balanced attack and you are complaining? Perhaps the coaches are trying to work on our most troubled position. Appeared to me that our coach was showing our qb that he still has confidence in him.

But then again, maybe you are right and they became incompetent in the snap of a finger.

If this staff is ready to give up that easily and throw away this season (and God forbid next one as well) and think they can hide behind excuses about Dooley's players (who beat them when they were in Cincy by the way) forever, then they are hopelessly delusional (no way the fans will stand for that).
