Chris Fallica says Nico will not play this weekend.

Moore is nowhere near as capable as Nico, hence why he's the backup.

ZERO chance with Moore to beat GA.

* I guess that one pass INT was JH holding the Nintendo controls...
I would ask you two questions (1) "Is the Vols offense with Gaston Moore @ QB better than Miss. St. offense?" and (2) "How many points can the UGA offense score against the Vols D?" UGA beat MSU 41-31. So, to say "zero chance" is more than a little bit over the top. This will likely be a defensive slugfest determined by turnovers.

Obviously there's a chance. It's far less likely with Moore than Nico.

Don't disagree with thus unless chaos happens and it could...
Here is who I can see being in...
Four Big 10 (Indiana, OSU, Oregon and PSU) Vol fans need to be huge OSU fans and hope they blow the doors of Indiana (Indiana has played absolutely no one)
One ACC (Whoever wins the conference)
One Big 12 (Whoever wins the conference)
Notre Dame (This is the big one...someone needs to upset them to make this an easier road)
One Non P4
That is 8 teams at the moment...Texas, UGA, Bama, Ole Miss and Tennessee could all be sitting there...Texas would/could be a one loss. Ole Miss loss to Kentucky could haunt them...in the same way UT loss to Arkansas could haunt them, Bama loss to Vanderbilt should haunt them but the name won't let that happen.
Then the big question comes into play...who goes to the SEC Championship game and if Texas wins that with only one loss does that eliminate a 3 loss team and let the others that were at home move in.
Going to be a fun few weeks.
Add to that: PSU lost the only game on their schedule they play against a top-25 team--AT HOME. With that schedule and result, they don't deserve to be in the top 12.

Just sling and pray. Go down swinging. 5 ints or 5 DPIs / Chunk plays. Gaston will either be a hero remembered in Vol Lore for eternity or a nobody.

As others have said, hopefully this is a mute point. I've just been underwhelmed with UT ability to move the football with Moore. It's challenge moving it with Nico.

I agree this could 100% be the case but the fact he didn't even come out of the locker room with his parents until after the State game is concerning. It means even if he didn't have a severe concussion, he did get licked pretty good.
Nico walked off the field and did not look "wobbly". Just from that observation, I would conclude it was not a serious concussion. I was concussed in high school and crawled most of the way to the sideline because I couldn't maintain balance. Returned to the game a few plays later and suffered no discernible aftereffects. My wife would say the effects on my memory were not noticeable until years later.

Does anyone remember the 85 season when the great Tony Robinson went down for the season . A guy took over the qb reigns named Darryl Dickey , the media was saying he was not a sec starting qb, ask Miami hurricanes that question today .
Totally different situation. Dickey had started 6-7 games by the time we played Miami in the Sugar Bowl. Robinson went down against Alabama- Dickey started the rest of the season before the game vs Miami.

Yes .... but the first game he started after Robinson's injury was against Georgia Tech and we scored 6 points. The game ended in a tie. It was our worst offensive performance of the season. Granted, Georgia Tech's defense was very good that year. They had Pat Swilling. Still, we did struggle in the first game with Dickey at QB.

I think all of this speculation is moot though. There is no reason to believe that Chris Fallica or anyone with Sports Illustrated would have inside information at Tennessee that the local press wouldn't also have. Someone said that the spread wouldn't be 10 points if Nico was playing ... as if oddsmakers and bettors have inside info as well. That's ridiculous too.

Straight up and uneducated opinion on my behalf.

I think they play caution, and Nico doesn’t play. I think his parents, rightfully so I might add, will push for him not to play. If I thought my kid had a concussion, I’d be dammed if my kid played, if there were any symptoms.

Plenty of ball for him to play here over the years.

We’ve seen Moore more as if a Wild West type thrower. He’s made some hits on the long balls. but he made throws where he should have thrown to the closer open receivers, instead he tried to push the long ball.

My opinion means nothing, just what I think.

Moore is the backup because Nico is being paid large amounts of money to be the starter. Doesn’t mean Moore isn’t capable.
It means exactly that Moore is not worth what Nico is. Exactly that Nico has all the tools while GM does not have many at his disposal. He is capable, a blind Squirrel situation. But the likely outcome with Moore is not what we hope for.

This guy doesn't know jack. I will take the word of the head coach. I just worry that this circumstance will result in play calling issues. Like not moving him outside of the pocket, no speed options, etc.

CBS just released an interesting article about holding Nico out.

It states if we were to lose without him the committee may put an asterisk on that loss, improving our chances at the playoffs with a loss.

CBS Sports

Austin price said Nico practices today, and participated in parts of the team portion today. Not just individual stuff
From the sounds of it, he was at all the meetings Monday, "practiced" Tuesday, and practiced Wednesday. Seems like he is playing to me.

Anytime an article includes the word "speculation" in the title, I interpret that as pure click bait status. There are multiple reasons to "speculate" that this is the same type of "unnamed source" reporting we have experienced from media for the last couple of years. Unless something is listed for certain on today's participation report, I believe nothing some random podcaster reports. Gaston Moore may not have the physical skills of Nico, but he knows this system better than anyone short of his head coach. I still think we can beat Georgia as their QB has a very large head right now that apparently keeps his helmet from fitting well. That has to be the reason he keeps forgetting what color his team is wearing.
