While there are exceptions to any generalization, in general I believe statistically home-schooled kids perform measurably better than public school products. There may be other issues to consider as well.Being old and having kids doesn't qualify someone to be a teacher. Much less homeschooling. I've met some really ****ed kids who were homeschooled.
I agree that this is corny and lame to include military spouses. But at the same time, this isn't necessarily going to be the disaster that you are painting it out to be, either. I think the bar is already so low in public schools that this seems like a reasonable step either sideways or forward.Probably not always but ill take my chances with someone who has dedicated their life to becoming a teacher vs someone whose only qualification is they married someone in the military.
The bar is low so let's lower it? Shouldn't we be saying the opposite?I agree that this is corny and lame to include military spouses. I guess my frustration with this uniform worship is that the very same people that (rightly so btw) criticize big govt and govt over-reach, admire the very people that are at the tip of the spear of enforcing these same govt actions.Yeah I still remember when those same kids were called baby killers and spat upon. I do think it is sometimes a little over the top, but it is earned nonetheless
Public school teachers in Florida are required to obtain teacher certification before leading a classroom. In order to be eligible for certification, the Sunshine State requires all teachers to hold a bachelor’s degree and complete a state-approved teacher education program. Not in Florida. Not sorry.
Its called being qualified.
Thats like saying "if your wife is a teacher we'll hire you to drive a tanker truck without a CDL"

Knox County is going into a shortage crisis and college enrollment numbers are going down. Product of teacher unions, low pay, the covid debacle, kids in general/respect, parents and overall transformation of schools curriculum being taught to please the state capital. How is it lowered by increasing overall number of applicants?
Or people without degrees are lesser than people with degrees?

No shame when comes to pandering in election cycles.
