Here comes the NCAA

What if someone on staff does have proof Fulmer knew about everything and even helped raise money from boosters to give to recruits. What if ???? How would we feel now???? Sounds like we would be on a slippery slope with Pruitt on the stand and having proof. We should have just paid the guy like everybody always does and gotten it over with. Not saying Cornbread has proof but I bet someone does.

I've said many times since the press conference, if any proof on Fulmer comes out at any point even after NCAA rules from the hearing this month, then Tennessee is going to be in major, major trouble. SEC or no one will be able to help them.

I think Plowman and Boyd are too smart to try and cover up Fulmer knowing or being involved. I think since Fulmer was not named in Tennessee's report, means there is no proof he knew about any violations.

Just don't see how that could be possible.

Just as recruiting is heating up...

School officials, former head football coach Jeremy Pruitt and former defensive coordinator Derrick Ansley are scheduled to appear before members of the Committee on Infractions later this month, in what’s become a somewhat contentious fight between each of the three parties and the association. The three parties received a letter announcing the three-day hearing, scheduled for April 19–21 in Cincinnati, multiple sources tell Sports Illustrated.

At least we will finally have a resolution to the Pruitt case.

We were right to fire Pruitt for cause. Only question is whether we should have done the same with Fulmer.

Sorry if I missed it, but has it been stated what additional penalties the NCAA wishes to enact?

Bowl ban. They have been fighting it since the start of the past bowl season. Wouldn't suprise me in the least to find out the NCAA is pushing for a two year ban to bury the program again for another decade.

the NCAA recently passed legislation saying no bowl bans. They felt that would be penalizing players who were not involved. I don't believe bowl ban part of it

If it is not a bowl ban, I cant see why the school would keep fighting the NCAA's ruling and punishment.

LOL... after not implicating Fulmer in their investigative report they are going to ban Fulmer? Seems that would be admitting to more than they found in their investigation. Plays right into the NCAA's hands.
LWS, have you heard anything in regards to whether Pruitt or the NCAA are in fact pointing the finger at Fulmer?

I'd have to think the NCAA is attempting to cripple our recruiting. We start beating bama on the field and then win a few recruiting battles and that will certainly lead to a reaction.

some possibilities.

They want to take away additional scholarships.

They want bowl money earned paid to the NCAA as a fine.

They want to limit additional recruit visits over what UT took.

other items??

I've never heard anything regarding Fulmer having knowledge of anything that went on or being involved in anything. I'm not sure what proof that Pruitt could offer? Tennessee confiscated his computer and phone when he was fired. So he doesn't have that to prove any communication between the two. Same for all the other staff that was fired.

Pruitt, or anyone else, saying something without evidence just is not going to move the needle.

All this Fulmer talk is foolish IMO. If anyone has proof of his involvement or knowledge of the going's on and it was not included in Tennessee's report, Tennessee would be wide open to IC problems. Plowman and Boyd could be accused of a coverup.

Its foolish talk to say on one hand, UT cooperated and gave everything to the NCAA and then on the other hand think Fulmer was complicit. Plowman and Boyd would have given him the same thing they did Pruitt and staff but they did the exact opposite. Praised him and paid him.

Haha.. what a joke. We did their job and now they looking for a paycheck. Id fight these c**ts in court

Should have never been this way in the first place.
Punishing University Athletics when they know who the bad actors bad actors are was immoral.
No one was hurt except the kids who came after them.

Yeah, it was and is a calculation by coaches there's numerous who have got caught cheating and they all got one thing in common now.
Their all millionaires, when you're coming up you say if I cheat and don't get caught and keep climbing the ladder I'm a millionaire. If I do get caught it will just take longer to get there. It hurts the University and players way more than the coaches in the long run. You really cant blame a coach for cheating it has been very lucrative for most of their predecessor. If you ain't cheating you ain't trying. You could put a laundry list of coaches that got caught with numerous infractions. That after a little time they are praised by the media, so its a no brainer.

Would think the NCAA would have Fulmer asked to be present at this fiasco if he were somehow implicated. Idk though.

I think we'll see probation (to make sure we keep our nose clean) and a fine.
Scholarship reductions only hurt the student athletes and bowl ban would hurt their TV contract because UT has one of the most followed and entertaining programs.

This is unbelievable! Haven't they had like 3 years to look into this? I don't think the "Watergate Investigation" took that long. Hell Pruit will be collecting Social Security before this ends. Ridiculous!
