I think we can get Bob Stoops

somebody get some shovels and lets go dig up some of the best parts of deceased great coaches.maybe we can build a better coach.ITS ALIVE!!!!

at this point, this is no more stupid than some of the suggestions that are being brought up.

Why would he? He is a god now in a weak conference that he can dominate and get title chances for a whole let less effort than he can here or anywhere else in the SEC.

he is on the outs in Norman, although the Tejas win helps. I have friends who are big boosters and they are ready for him to leave. He has the Richt rep there in that he does less with more.

Come on man, with the exception of the 2 or 3 years texas was pretty good, what team should have gotten in his way the past 13 years?

He's won the league 7 out of thirteen years. I would say that's pretty good. He's had a couple of "down" years but overall he's been spectacular. Ten double digit win seasons, and all the players that have gone pro, he would be a grand slam hire.

I'd rather get both Harbaugh brothers to coach together. Make it happen. "I think we can get them."

actually surprised that Pete Carroll's name hasnt been thrown out there. He will probably get canned after this season. Dont think he would come to the Hill, but you never know.

The fact that he hasn't actively recruited a teenager in 21 years, combined with the fact that he hasn't actually made a game plan in almost 4 years, and throw in the fact that he doesn't have any HS ties in recruiting, that's the problems I have with the hire.

Also, yes we can't afford him.

I would think most of that would fall on the assistants he hired.

Bob Stoops just moved into a brand new house. He has kids in high school and middle school. He is at a winning program that gives him everything he wants. He is beloved by the fans and the community. He is not coming to Tennessee.

I don't get the infatuation with Gruden personally. Yes, he won a SB--with Dungy's players. He was barely a .500 coach at Tampa. Discounting the SB with Dungy's players, he was actually below .500. Stoops would definitely be better, but isn't a realistic option.

So what you're saying is that Gruden coached up dungy's players enough to win a SB. Good enough for UT surely if he can do that...

And so are the people who are falling over at a coach who hasn't actively competed against another team in almost 4 years, or won an NFL playoff game since the Super Bowl Tampa Bay won. He makes more announcing, than we would have to hire a new coach.

Gruden has expressed interest in getting back into coaching. Sure he makes 10 mil announcing, but he knows and everyone knows that no school is going to offer 10 mil plus to anyone. His passion for the game will motivate him to get back to coaching, whether it be college or the NFL. If Hart does, or has had preliminary talks with Gruden, then Hart knows what it's going to take to get someone on the line of Gruden. I truly believe TN would match or exceed Saban's salary @ Alabama for the right coach. Gruden would not get back to coaching for the money, he has plenty already. His passion for the game lands him here at TN (hopefully) when we DO HAVE an opening. Right now obviously we do not.

Get fired? He has a winning record this year, and is 1 game out of the division lead. Dont know where this will probably get fired talk is coming from Rex.
