Is UT or Florida the 2nd Best SEC Program?

Really depends on how the last six years went with UT and Florida. Urban's still there probably, Bama would be a question mark, and UT after Dave Clawson would be a question mark but Fulmer still coaching.

During that 6 year stretch, UF would have to win the SEC every year to pass UT in conference titles...not likely.

Saban's presence in the SEC has no bearing on the all-time team rankings.

Let's assume that Bama averages 6-6 over that six year span and wins no SEC or national titles. No one is going to win 4 NCs in 6 years, so Bama stays ahead there. And Bama would still hold a lead in SEC titles even in the unlikely event that second place UT runs off six straight.

Basically, teams may have gotten closer, but no one was going to erase in 6 years what Bama had built in 80.

UT probably doesn't get caught, but it's not like UT was on a great run prior to Saban. I think there is a great chance that LSU might have caught or passed UT in national titles. Heck, UGA might have finally snagged an NC, bumping their average ranking.

It's all hypothetical, but Bama's spot is safer than UT's.

What about '95? But Nebraska was undefeated I believe when they drilled Florida. I doubt Nebraska would have drilled UT.

Yes they would have...That Florida team they beat defeated us 62-37...Nobody could've beat that Nebraska team...They were a wrecking machine.

Ok so I have to admit this was hilarious......

All - time, I would say U.T. However; Florida has two national championships in men's basketball. They have (3) Heisman trophies and (4) national championships in football.

U.T. has no Heisman trophies, no national championships in mens basketball. However; we have 8 national championships in women's basketball....

Nominee for dumbest post in the thread.

All time, it is ridiculous to put Florida in the conversation..

The past 10 years they would beat us. Sadly, but that is all about to change :)

All-time it's defintiely Tennessee. It's not really arguable. UF didn't even really compete in the league until Pell started cheating in the 80s.

b'writer is correct:

Historically it is no contest. Tennessee has won more games than any other program since 1926. Tennessee is #2 all-time in home wins. Tennessee is top three all-time in both bowl berths and bowl wins.

Past 10 years?

How old are you, 15?

It's likely that demographics will likely lead to Florida being better by the time the world ends. BUT... Steve Spurrier is still from Tennessee and Steve Spurrier will never be general Neyland.

The likelihood of a huge UFAD error based on the Sugar Bowl attendance is very high.

That used to be the case but I think Oklahoma and Bama are ahead of UT since 1926.

You started off making sense.

The demographics of Florida will keep UF at a home-grown talent advantage for the foreseeable future. Many people forget the state of Florida wasn't always the most populated state in the SEC.

Not sure what connection you're making between Spurrier and Neyland, but this much is true...you're the only one here attempting to do so. So you got that going for you, which is nice.

And that last sentence/paragraph...you completely lost me there.

I already linked to show that 1926 line is incorrect. And UT is Top 3 in the SEC in bowl wins, but not overall.
