Joe Milton outperforming Drake Maye

Less than 400 Vols have been drafted since 1936 or something like that.

Give the man his full due. It's an accomplishment most football players who run the T can only imagine. It's not a small feat by any means.

To see people here act like he's a letdown is just BS. He's a very talented athlete and from all reports a solid Vol in the locker room.
363, 13th most among college programs. We used to rank higher but Dooley, Butch and Pruitt came along. Is that okay to say? It also has the virtue of being true.

You're completely missing the point. Certainly UT has a storied and great legacy of producing good football players but thousands have slapped the sign and only few hundred have had the honor of being drafted into the NFL.

Slicing up Joe Milton as a Vol that wasn't extraordinary just isn't the truth. He was and he is an extremely talented football player.

That fans are butthurt and want to throw mud at the guy because they think he DIDN'T give enough, DIDN'T excel enough, DIDN'T do whatever they thought he should do is BS when he accomplished something few Vols have.

It's ridiculous, frankly. He's a damn good football player.

If Joe can hang on for 5 seasons or so, I think he is one of those guys with enough potential to begin to reach it with NFL coaching, practice adjusting to the speed of the game, and studying the game.

Hard to say how good Milton might be if everyone on the field does what they are supposed to do

It's kinda sad how people go out of their way to crap on VFL's getting positive press. Let the man shine and get his moment in the sun and if he makes the roster great. But Colin Cowherd made a good point about the RG3 Cousins thing. I don't think Joe will win the job even if he does win the job. The fact he is in a position to be in a conversation is something we should all be proud of though. Some of you should be ashamed of yourselves.
The Redskins played RG3 even when he was clearly injured -- sort of like the teenager who gets a new car and wrecks it the first day (My Mrs.' brother was that way).

Is somebody wrong if they say Reggie White was better than Kahlil McKenzie just because they both got drafted? Of course not. Being drafted doesn't make you impervious to comparison.

In any event, saying Milton has frequently had glowing practice reports in the past, in addition to being absolutely true, is not remotely equivalent to saying he didn't give his all to Tennessee, that he doesn't have the physical tools to make in the NFL or any of the other stuff you are crusading against. You're tilting at windmills.

Joe gave his all for Tennessee but if you know the NFL at all a team that invested almost $40 million in a 1st round draft pick at QB isn't going to start another rookie drafted late in draft.

If that's being negative so be it
Not unless there's a huge difference in their performances.

Vibes of Heath Shuler/Gus Frerotte.

I guess we will see during the preseason games how this translates. Joe has always had all the tools to be a great QB and always looked great in practice. Will be interesting to see him in the NFL. I have no idea how he will do if he gets a chance.

Is there a point to saying, "Kahill was no Reggie" or "Hendon was no Peyton" or "Joe was good in practice only?"

Is that the kind of crap you'd expect on Violation?

Guess what, Kahill was a fine athlete. Hendon is a fine athlete. Milton is a fine athlete. All of them, regardless of their "yeah, but they didn't do what....... did" deserve respect.

Heath was out most of his rookie training camp. Not remotely similar
“Remotely”? Shuler was the 3rd overall pick (like Maye) who lost the starting job to a SEVENTH ROUNDER and never gained it back. Training camp holdout or not, he got beat out by a lower round pick in the same draft class. If that lightning strikes in this example, it’s HELLA SIMILAR.

Nevermind not worth arguing about.

My God most of the responses in this thread are pathetic. Joe wasnt great last year. Nevermind that the WRs didn’t help him one bit dropping perfect deep balls in their bread basket...

I doubt Joe gets a chance this year after the patriots spent a 1st on Maye. But if he does I hope he balls out. He was never anything but class and a great representative of the university in his time at Tennessee. I guess VFL only means something if the player was great to some of y’all. But I’m rooting for him big time.
Yeah, NFL scouts never get it wrong (Ryan Leaf and Tom Brady say hi.)

Joe could turn me into a Pats fan, and I HATE Boston.

It's hate and a lot of it
I guess we watched different UT games last season. I wish him well but the didn't play great last season. That would be called a criticism which is different than the word hate. Your words are not my narrative.

I never said Milton played great or did anything great. He played good and better than most QBs we've had in the last several years. But for some reason a lot of fans get off on talking bad about a guy that's no longer here.

Why would Tennessee fans wish this hell upon Joe. New England is going to be horrible for the next few years. Who would you rather see sacked 50 times this season Drake Maye or Joe. Real fan of Joe rather see Maye get destroyed.
