John Chavis, Call your Office.

The 4th and 8 was actually a well defended play in the secondary. Russell just put the ball in a perfect place.
We came within an eyelash of batting it down.

Unfortunately, I had to work. Upon seeing the highlights, where was the defender on the game winning LSU pass. Why did he give up on the play before the pass was even complete. If he had stayed with his man, he could have been in position to knock down a low throw. Weak. Very weak. Looked like a typical UT/LSU contest. Wife said it was best game she has seen all year.

Who knows? There were two receivers wide open in the middle of the endzone. :dunno:

Yes our players have a tendancy on passing plays to not finish out their assignments which is another problem. BUT that's what the FLEX D does.

I have been disatisfied with our pass D for several years now. We play the pass, especially the cross, very weak. We get slashed. I like Chavis, but in some respects, he can be overrated. If he demanded on D what Cut does on O, no contest tonight, and no loss to the Gators.

You know, you bring up a GOOD POINT. Could it be that Chavis is not a GREAT Defensive Coordinator?? Instead he has lived off of talent all this time??? Well he is a GOOD Coordinator, but his players make him look good.

Coach Cut DEMANDS perfection and you can see the improvement in the Offense this year.

I think it might be time to pair Fulmer and Coach Cut with someone new and that might bring us a D that is more aggressive.

Yes we lost 6 of 7 up front, but that's no excuse for not performing.

Notice that he threw the ball at Demetrice Morley.

Its a bit early to call for Chavis' job. We just need depth on the d-line. i can reflect on the game a bit more now that the heat has passed from my forehead. keep in mind these are the guys that backed up our great front 7 last year they are good not great and at times it shows. As for our Db's Larry Slade has some explaining to do. Ever wonder why our db's play so far off the reciever? That kills me get up there be physical get in his face.

I could go with that. CPF needs to tell CJC to toughen up, knock some skulls around and play a real D, or consider one of those job offers. Or tell him to find some hungry redshirts on the sideline and make some statements.

Still waiting for Morley to show why he was a 5 star recruit.

I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't starting next year. He is mentally incapable. He's even made several special teams mistakes this year. Chris Leak and Jamarcus Russell own him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't starting next week. From what I heard, Wardlow was pushing for the start.

Bottom line, our defensive line is just average and they were left on the field for way too long tonight.

He should get it. Morley has proven nothing. He got a lucky INT that was thrown right to him. I'm worried that that one big play will allow him to get the start. I'd much rather see Wardlow back there.

Bingo . . . We proved last year that you can't leave a great d-line on the field all night. You surely can't leave an average d-line on the field for 40+ minutes.

Was that really a fumble? I couldn't tell from where I was sitting and I couldn't tell on the replay.

Watching on TV, it looked like a fumble. The ball came out before he went down, but I guess maybe his momentum stopped first.

Well, our defense got 4 turnovers, that's more than enough to win most games. While that fumble would have probably won the game for us, so would stopping them on 4th and freaking 7..

sooo close to knocking that ball down.:cray:

Yep, all they had to do was stop them on that last drive, but LSU was getting 9-10 yards on just about every play. There was a 3rd and 10 and of course that 4th and 7. More than enough chances. The D just couldn't get it done. So goes life I guess.

There weren't any average D-Lines on the field tonight. LSU has a great line. We have a weak line.
