NCAA BBall POY Thread

1)Remind me - how many did he put up against Griffin's team on Griffin's team's homecourt?

Note from the beginning of this thread I've given Griffin the nod and believe he's the most physically gifted player in the NCAAs. Some have made it their life mission to destroy Curry and the program he plays for, so I'm simply taking his defense as any sane basketball fan (like, say, LeBron James) would.

2)BTW, FG% is a silly stat to use to compare a 6'3" jump shooting guard with a 6'8" post player.

1) The point was about their conferences, how did you not read that? I don't mind Curry, he's an enjoyment to watch, but I simply dont think he warrants serious POY consideration.

2) Again, the point of posting the %s was to reveal how harden might fare against such competition, nothing more. Obv. it's a bit more difficult to compare harden vs. curry due to their styles of play, but it really shouldn't take much difficult thinking to arrive at Harden being the superior player, regardless of that. Let's not fault the guy for being able to drive the lane effectively AND shoot 40% from 3.

That would be in an important stat. Nobody can help that Davidson plays in a crap conference, but at least tries to schedule good teams OOC.

4 games are responsible for that high rating...4 games out of 30. Ya, tough break that davidson plays in a horrible conference, but the fact is that they do.

Here's his 6 lowest shooting percentages of the season: vs Purdue, vs West Virginia, vs Oklahoma, vs Duke, vs NC state, vs Charleston.

It's not difficult to see where the bread&butter is coming from.

There is the argument that he has no supporting cast, and the opposite of that would account for why Harden and etc. have less gawdy numbers: when you have pendergraph(top 5 ncaa fg%) and kuhksiks(top 5 ncaa 3pt%) the buckets are gonna be spread around.

I'm not saying he's David Klingler; I'm saying he's Andre Ware.

The more interesting speculation would be the likelihood Harden or Griffin would make grades to get into, much less be able to play at Davidson.

How on earth is this 'more interesting' fodder on a basketball messageboard?

We've seen the wonderlic, we know it isn't indicative of anything as it relates to sport.

Last time I checked, the game is basketball. I could give a damn less who would win Scholar's Bowl.

LeBron James? You mean the noted talent evaluator who begged his team to sign Damon Jones? Look at how well that turned out.

Tennessee Martin
UNC Asheville
Louisiana Lafayette
Chattanooga
Middle Tennessee

Those teams are included in the 20th toughest non-conference schedule, which is higher than all but two higher ranked teams. your point?
The point is simple. You act as if Davidson is consistently playing the type of nonconference schedule John Chaney played at Temple. They don't and never will. You are a Davidson shill. We get it. The good thing is, pretty soon we won't have to hear anything else from Davidson. They can go back to being a nice little program tucked comfortably away in irrelevancy.

He was 12/29 from the field when he put all of the points up on OU. Thats not great.

Griffin outshined him in the game as well going for 25 points much more efficiently as well as having 21 boards. The whole Davidson team had 26.

griffin did outshine him but for people to say that curry doesn't deserve POY consideration just because of the school he plays for doesn't make any sense. it's not like the guy can't play and won't be a lottery pick in the draft if he decides to come out because he more than likely will i mean come on the guy is the nation's leading scorer (29.3) and 10th in assists (6.4). he's the real deal

I don't think there are many that will agree with you on that. Steph Curry is an excellent player. Lottery pick? Hell no. Problem is, he's too small for the NBA, much like Lofton was.

he's one of the better point guards in the country and the best scorer and shooter...he'lll be a lottery pick plus he is better than lofton was

The only lottery Stephen Curry will be a part of is buying a Powerball ticket.

there's really no reason for anybody to think he wont be a high draft pick he's got the skills and the size and the production and he's proven to be a big game player

Size - He's 6'3". This is big to the average man, but in the NBA, that's small. He's 185, again, very smallish.

thats pretty good size for a point guard i mean really chris paul is 6'0 175 deron williams is 6'3 207 (he's one of the bigger pgs) nash is 6'3 178... not sayin he's as good as these guys but bigger so the size is there and it would not shock me if he is a starter in the nba within the first 2 years

6"3 is pretty generous. He's closer to 6'1, really. And he's just not that great of an athlete to where he can create his own shots consistently against nba talent. Is he really gonna stay at PG at the next level? That'd be nearly unprecedented, and highly doubtful.

Enjoy him now in college, but don't throw your arms up in 'disbelief' when he amounts to a poor man's steve kerr.

he's a pg that can do it all and that is a very underrated passer...he'll be a good pro

he'll be adequate at best, and the likelihood of him being taken as a lottery pick is slim.

There'll be about 10-20 players this year that'll make more of an impact at the next level.
