They offer tuition waivers or partial waivers depending on the family income to all students.

what has lon kruger ever won? He had 1 final 4 at florida then did nothing. A couple of ncaa appearances is no big deal.

in our situation you cant sell 25k tickets by bringing in a 60 yr old vagabond coach. empty arenas would have been very very bad. we needed hope and flash. the fans and students can support Martin, they really got behind him at mizz st. its not only about who is the best 'coach' available. this is chess, not checkers.

yeah compared to Lon Kruger everyone is flash. hes young, ex-NBA player. players and fans of basketball can identify with him

Lon Kruger wasnt even in the picture. im sure somewhere on a Minnesota football board some fan was begging for Phil Fulmer too, but its very rare for older coaches to get jobs at BCS schools now in football or basketball. AD's want to be the one to hire the next big thing. its just the way it is

I'm certainly not hating on Martin, but why don't we stop touting him as an "NBA player." The man participated in 7 games.

still makes him an ex NBA player just as much as Lawrence Frank was an ex NBA coach with his sub .500 record . Martin is well known to anyone old enough to have watched college hoops in the 90's.

Losing out on Kruger wouldn't be the end of times, nor should anybody get fired over it. I fail to see how Kruger would have us competing for championships. Kruger must have talked to hat at a camp or something because I'm not getting the fascination he's got with the dude. Solid, but nothing special coach. If Hamilton felt the same way and wanted to go with a guy he thinks could potentially be a very hot commodity in a couple of years, plus putting us in the top tier of the conference, then it was a good decision. He'll live or die with Dooley and Martin as it is so it's on him.

As for Lon Kruger, I certainly won't lose sleep with him in Norman and not Knoxville. Hat can have his man-crush. I'll pass.

you really think the players make their own decisions in 20011? were you not saying the AAU coaches would ban Martin from the gym because of Ware's situation ?

the key is their coaches and advisors were. they dont care about Lon Kruger. seriously, are you related to Lon? hes not even on the radar for a job like UT. not at this stage in his career. the infatuation is way out in left field.

nice try with the one liner though. i think some of you guys think up stuff to argue about to practice your internet argument skills. thats really sad.

I see you are sticking to your guns with the dumb statements, so I will play your game. Grunfield messed up the Pearl hire? Yeah, because he is obviously supposed to reach in the future and make a coach not tell a lie to the NCAA over a minor thing.

And Grunfield sure did miss on recommending Wright over Peterson.

I don't think Ernie has a clue about Pearl and his past history with the 'AA.

Anyone with a pulse in basketball knew about the Deon Thomas stuff, but it had been 15 years and Pearl had paid his dues. The only other issue Pearl had in that time was a minor contact violation at UWM. Certainly no reason for alarm in 2005.

The job search really took only 2 days. Does that not at least concern you somewhat?? It does me. I would have preferred to talk with a few more coaches, and wait till after the NCG.

Pretty sure he did his research. He said it was a minor contact violation at UWM, which it was. I'm pretty sure that any team looking at Bruce Pearl as a coach is not going to say, "Hey, he had a minor violation where he invited a player to his house; he is obviously trouble."

Do you know how he knows him so well, that he would recommend turning over the keys to the program at his alma mater??
