Official Dave Hart is Officially Woefully Inept Thread

Hargis is sticking by his story. Says talks were centered more between gruden camp and boosters which is why grudens agent can technically say they werent in negotiations or talking to hart. Says they are very divided on money for assistants. Also claims a second source txtd him last night and said he had talked to grudens agent and lamont told him that if ut didnt meet demands for assistants gruden would walk. Says gruden already has a plan to fix the program and that things are further along than others have reported. Says if this falls through its more ut's fault for letting this turn into the mess it has become.

When the enemy thought that Patton was leading the main charge angst the Germans while Eisenhower and the other generals around him planned D-Day. It was not until the outcome of D-Day was ready for the history books until we saw the success of Eisenhower’s Army. Right now I have the same faith in Hart, why because he has not given me a reason not to. He never promised Gruden would be our next coach. I have never heard him say that name. I did hear him say that he knew what he was doing, that it was going to take some time, and to be patient that this would all work out. There is a reason D-Day was on June 6th because the way the stars, moon and tides needed to line up. I think there is a reason there is no news out there like OH his choice still has a regular season or conference championship game to coach. All of the tight lips out there could have been to keep our next coach’s players focused to finish out strong. A good coach would want this for his team and a good AD would honor the wishes of his future coach. We were just the helpful fan base that starts our own fire and rumors to build a smoke screen large enough to hide any coaching hire.
I don’t know but it makes more since to me that Hart knows what he is doing has made his plan and he is executing it. Has anyone who has ever been around him or worked around Hart ever said he was not very bright, no more than that have they said he is a total fool. No This is not over
To quote the great John "Bluto" Blutarsky:
“Was it over when the German’s bombed Pearl Harbor, hell no and it aint over now. When the going gets tough…. …. …. The tough gets going”

Well I officially believe Hart coming here was to exact revenge for what Fulmer did to Bama. His actions, or lack of, pretty much says his intention is to go out and get another Mike Hammy level hire to make sure that the ship that was UT football stays sunk and has little to no chance of returning to its once proud glory.
Take off the tin foil hat man. You're crazy if you think Hart would put his reputation on the line for some crazy plan to "bring down" UT. Hell, we're doing a good enough job ruining the program without some sort of Bama conspiracy.

He might wish that he did when Neyland is 75% full next season, we are 5-7 again, and fan apathy is fubar.

If that happens, Hart will be gone. I would say a 7-5 2014 season would be cause for getting rid of him.

New guy must have a winning record next year and at least 9 wins in 14.

Clay Travis, who is typically laughable, is killing it right now on radio.

Thinks Dave Hart didn't have Gruden #1 on his list because he is basically intimidated by his ego.

Chris Low just said that he doesn't think Gruden was #1 on Dave Hart's list.

Why in the hell is Dave Hart our AD again?

Hearing that he didn't even have Gruden as #1 on his list is very disturbing. Not just UT, but anyone in the market for a coach this year who can dream of scratching together the money to pay him (NFL or college) should make Gruden tell them no before moving on down their list. Last I checked, he's the only SB winner who is really out there looking for a job this year. Meanwhile, it looks like Hart is just going to be content saddling us with another Dooley-esque scrub for at least the next three seasons. Awesome.

Pretty simple.

Day one of coaching search - reach out to Jon Gruden with a serious offer in hand.

Day two - Get response from Jon Gruden.

Later in Day Two - (assuming response from Jon Gruden was a thanks but no thanks), either ask Gruden's people to politely decline (JUST LIKE THEY DID WHEN ARKANSAS OFFERED HIM) or simply make a release yourself saying "we reached out to Coach Gruden to gauge his interest in the position, but he informed us that he would not be interested in being the next coach at the University of Tennessee"

Day 3 - We are now going to wait until the college football regular season ends before interviewing other candidates.

Boom. Done. PR nightmare avoided. Fan base happy, informed, and supportive of their AD.

This :good!:

This football program is the biggest mess I've ever seen! It is so sad. I just am not sure if I can keep my chin up for this team. I feel the new coach is going to have a lot of rebuilding the fan base now. I've thrown my hands up shaking my head.

Ok...setting Gruden aside...

You have multiple media types (Punch, Low, Hubbs etc) saying UT hadn't made any moves in the first 10-11 days of their search.

Frigging Debbie Yow was shopping on Day 2.

If we believe Lamonte and the last 12 days weren't a full court press on Gruden...just what in the blue hell has Hart been doing? Waiting til NYC? That's a damn Hamilton move.

He still has time to pull his nuts out of the vice...but he better get hopping.

GBOV is making some damn good points...and all some (GA excluded) can do is crow about somebody else buying into a pipe dream. God forbid a fan have high hopes.

You have been en fuego on both Chaney and Hart.

I've just got to go on record and say I like Phil Fulmer and Clay Travis.

I'm a fairly successful guy, but I'm envious of the entire premise of "Dixieland Delight." I wish I had thought of that and turned it into a business.

Anyway, I'm not listening to the radio right now, but I hope every Vol fan is asking deep questions of why Gruden wasn't the right guy for Hart.

Don't even get me started on Chaney, Eddie Vol Halen!! Its been too rough a day to go down the dark path of the most maddening play caller I have ever seen!!

If Hart didn't go after Gruden first and with everything he possibly could then he failed at fulfilling his duties as AD.

This program is a full scale dumpster fire, not to mention the abysmal recruiting class we are going to end up with that will set us back another 3 years.
