Omari needs to be suspended (he apologizes)

I’m not even sure what your going on about but it’s irrelevant. The student obviously didn’t “strike” Omari. It’s blatant on video. Could that kid have said or did something he shouldn’t have? Sure? I’m not saying it’s right. But the bottom line is a D1 player on scholarship representing a university just can’t react in that way. He will never win that argument unless the kid truly threatened him with physical harm which obviously didn’t happen. You trying to rationalize it is just silly.
The student was running thru the UT team and staff then got pushed away for it. The student is the same age and should own their decision as well

I feel certain about the time they started flying backward, the guy regretted being there.

If they file a lawsuit on Arkansas, Tennessee, the SEC, NCAA, and Thomas....... we'll know they were raised by an attorney.

You guys are acting like children just bc it’s our team. You should’ve seen the outrage when bama did it at our place. Omari is gonna be held to a higher standard than just another idiot student rushing the field. Like it or not it is what it is. Omari is on a stage, that stupid kid isn’t. As with anything, when you have a public stage, which Omari does, more responsibility follows.

Oh i remember. No one was seen pushing the Bama player before that incident occurred and seemed to go after someone. This student came directly for and thru the UT group

Whatever you say, McDuff, whatever you say.

The kid most certainly asked for it. I’m not arguing against that. The player is gonna lose that situation every time unfortunately.

It amazes me how many of you immediately call for him to be kicked off the team…..that’s an incredibly weak take….. the next tier calls for him to be suspended….. debatably weak as well.
The holier than thou on display is ridiculous…. Get over yourselves

Yep.

Society keeps getting weaker & weaker.

Sorry, OT. According to some here like EasTennVol, you lose. You must be drawn and quartered, laid upon a steel table, your flesh ground, and stuffed skin tubes as sausage, and fed to wolves. Don't feel bad, we have more than a few judgmental haters who lie in wait for the slightest misstep of players, so as to condemn them. Especially if you're not from an East Tennessee clan.

Kick his ass off of the team. He matched his entire output versus Arkansas last night against a fan after the clock struck zero. If you're pissed, take it up with yourself and your teammates in the locker room and ensure such a letdown doesn't happen again.
Glass houses? I would hope you have never made an error in judgement during a time that was a huge disappointment.

Not defending his actions or saying it wasn't heinous. Are you saying that had his output been much higher, you would look the other way, but since it is what you would consider "low" he should be booted?

Does playing output and off field behavior intertwine?

You let fans storm the field and get in the faces of the losing team's players and emotions will be hard to control at that age. Just asking for trouble. Not sure how you stop it, but at some point, someone is going to get badly hurt.

There's nothing questionable about hitting someone at the knees and making a tackle. It's not illegal and it was the only play he had to make a sack. Football can be a dangerous sport. But there's nothing questionable about the play. God bless the young man that got injured.
He dove at the QBs knees. It was a dirty play

D

He should have left out the “even though” statement.

The quick and sincere apology is a big step. Still, needs to be some form of punishment. 1 game suspension seems appropriate.

I also hope this video makes the highlights when they have team meeting to review this game performance and this incident is used as example.
I’m gonna have to respectfully disagree with leaving out the “even though” statement. While as he said he should not have done it… as a whole the ridiculously stupid cancel culture in which we live people are judged and sentence without ever getting to defend themselves.in his time here Big O has been a young man of high character, we are all human and do human things and, again as he stated, this is something that shouldn’t have happened. That said, there are always two sides to every story hear people out before rendering judgment.

Omar Norman Lott made that low hit on the quarterback.

Not only that, definitely not intentional. He was pushed into the QB by the offensive lineman. I understand protecting QBs, but refs are quick to throw flags on any contact with the QB. They should review the penalty, and if the offensive lineman shoves the defender, and his momentum carries him low on the QB, it’s incidental contact imo.

This is one of the dumbest threads ever started. And Dobbs4heisman has started a lot.

If you jump out of the stands and run into a football team (pushing and shoving) while the football team is walking to a locker room….you deserve to get crumbled.

If big O had waited in the middle of the field and was seeking player to beat up…that’s a different story.

Big O was minding his own business and waking off the field. This kid interjected himself into the situation. Ran into a group of players, started pushing his way through them, then got shoved to the ground. HUGE DIFFERENCE. Big O had nothing to apologize about but did so anyway
