Well, I don't see how.........

(France's) Government economic policy aims to promote investment and domestic growth in a stable fiscal and monetary environment. Creating jobs and reducing the high unemployment rate is the top priority of the French Government. In the 1990s, unemployment fell from 10% to 8.5%, although this rebounded to double digits after the dot-com crash, but currently, unemployment is back under 10%. France joined 10 other European Union countries in adopting the euro as its currency in February 1999. Since then, monetary policy has been set by the European Central Bank in Frankfurt.

Except for a few things, same as the US.

you sound more ignorant every time you spout domething written by their gov't to be a chamber of commerce piece. Look at their work weeks, mandatory vacations, tax rates, per capita GDP etc. If tht confuses you, post for me another recruiting ad.

I'm a neocon - about some things. Don't mind the label either.

Actually neocon is to me what lib is to a lot of people. I should have shortened it to begin with. You are most certainly not in the group I am referencing when I say neocon.

Was their a factual argument in there about political correctness and socialism or did you ignore a topic that we could debate???

My problem was your grouping, I hate that. Generally I let it slide, I guess tonight I just feel argumentative.

Gotta go to bed so that I can get up and go to work and make money to give to lazy socialists watching Jerry Springer, popping out kids, and being a drag on society. I look forward to continuing our debates later!

I think the more ignorant thing is you trying to paint a democratic/republic country as a socalist state.

You're in the group I refer to by using the term "hippie".

Sorry. What do you prefer? Seriously where do you stand and what makes you a democrat. No knocks or jokes. I'm truly trying to understand your perspective.

again, China fancies itself a republic.

Nevermind. You're correct. France is a model democracy, just like England.

Are you trying to say that any nation that isn't the United States does not have a true market economy? Because, from your posts, this is what you're implying.

I am extremely socially liberal. Pro-choice, Anti-death penalty, pro-decriminalization of (certain) drugs, etc.

I am more or less a New Deal type of democrat fiscally, it is certainly not popular around here but I am what I am. I am very much in favor of eliminating a lot of wasteful spending though. Maybe not in the same vein as my more conservative brethren, but there is some stupid crap out there.

I'm a little more moderate on the social issues.

Me = Pro-Choice, support Death Penalty for murder and rape, oppose gay marrage, but for Civil unions, keeping marjuana and other drugs illegal.

Fiscally, I'm more/less like you in most respects

I don't have time to reply to everything (at work), but I don't disagree with people having to earn things in life. It's just that the world isn't black and white, people will fall through the cracks. I've seen it and grew up around it. I've seen people go to work every day to take care of their family but they and their family aren't covered to due to circumstances. I've also seen the scum that don't contribute and their family suffers because of it. I would rather have a system that takes care of every one so no one falls through the cracks.

You are absolutely correct and the vehicle is not government!

I would glady give a higher percentage of my income if it would make sure all Americans (regardless of their life and how they live) health coverage. I view that the benefit of covering those in need out weighs those that would abuse the system. Yes I am an evil and horrible human being for feeling this way.

This can be viewed as a noble position and I deeply respect your right to hold it and to do with your money as you please. However, I start having a problem when someone sticks a gun to my head and a hand in my pocket and demands that I give a percentage of my earnings for someone else’s benefit.
