Religious leadership on this team and Bryce Brown...

Exactly droski.

Good people will be good, bad people will be bad. Nothing is going to change that, including hope for reward or fear of punishment after death.

I'm a good person and have strong morals. I have never done anything worse than get a speeding ticket. My wife and I donate to charity, and I support a variety of causes. If there is a God, and he decides to judge me because I didn't massage his egotistical needs, he can keep his heaven, I'm fine going elsewhere.

T-Town seems to think God is very clear what he wants, and according to T-Town I am not going to like my retirement prospects after death. I guess I would be worried or offended if I didn't find the whole notion laughable.

This is just sad.

Who does not know the word of god or other religions?

you don't believe there are millions of people on this earth who will never hear you version of how to get to heaven? And if they never hear it how could they ever get there?

Then think back the 2000 years of all the people who got left out because of rules they didn't know.

faith is the very absence of evidence

You want evidence? Look around where do you think people came from? Where did the earth and universe come from? Did all of this just happen? Someone or something greater than us created all of this.

that's not evidence it's just man attributing something he can't understand yet to some supernatural being.

And all of that specifically points to Christianity how?

Its not about being good or bad. Its about believing or not and asking to be forgiven or not. Donating to charities or not does not get you to heaven or prevents it.

There is a god, do you think this earth, this universe or mankind just happened?

But again I believe its your choice, you want to believe fine, you don't fine. I will not speculate where you may spend eternity.

I don't know why most people find this notion so unbelievable.

Haha, you believe this whole thing just happened all by itself? Wow.

It's more believable than an alternative written in a bronze age book written by those to whom the wheelbarrow would have been a breathtaking example of emerging technology.

maybe. but you are talking about the christian god. i'm sure hindus go to hell just as much as athiests in your book right?

Its not my place to say who goes to heaven and who goes to hell. I know what I believe and that is all that I can control

I have given evidence. Now I am asking you to give me evidence that there is not a god.

This illustrates the whole fallacy of your thinking. The burden isn't on the nonbeliever. You're making the claim, the burden is on you to provide proof. And quite frankly, simply saying "look around, it had to be God" isn't evidence. There are an infintie number of explanations that are just as reasonable as yours.

If somebody asks me "why do you think the big bang happened" I point to empirical evidence that show the universe is expanding and cooling and hence, regressed back long enough, it was smaller and more hot. i point to resonate radiation still detectable today. I don't say, "look around, it had to be the big bang".

This may not seem like it goes here but I believe it does. If all this happened by accident, a big bang. That we evolved from apes. Was there a male and female human that evolved at the same time, in the same place? Or did they evolve in seperate places? It seems to me that if it all by accident then "science" should be able to explain. Plus why do animals in the wild either kill their own young or leave it do die if there is something wrong with it? I believe that an ape that had a baby that came out more like a human than an ape would do this, unless you believe in a literal Tarzan.

Why?

The Big Bang may very well be wrong. And science doesn't begin to try and explain what kicked off the Big Bang if it did indeed happen.

I'm fine with separating the two magistra. Science explains what it can, and religion explains what it can. I just believe one mode of thinking is far more powerful and useful than the other, and by extension, more right.

Evidently that means I am going to fry for eternity with all the other miscreants of similar thinking. I'm not laying awake at night worrying about it though....probably the same way Christians don't lie awake at night worrying about the fact that Muslim say they are going to hell.

if it's not your place where do you get this belief from?

I am not perfect so how could I tell someone else that they are wrong to believe in whatever they choose to? I believe in my faith and believe my faith is the correct way. But I refuse to tell someone else they are going to hell because they believe differently than I do or not at all. I think they are wrong but that is their choice.

I was hoping you would answer the evolution question! And as to your point we will all find out when we die!

The burden is not on me as a believer either because I am not trying to convince you or anyone else to believe as I do, I could not care less how you believe that is on you and you will have to deal with that whenever your time comes. There is not scientific explanation for how man came about, I refuse to believe I evolved from an ape. We were made in our makers image.

Well put. We as Christians can not judge, a judge sentences someone, we are not judges. We are simply to plant a seed. Let God water it. Keep strong in your faith!
