Your scheme is also dictated by your identity and philosophy as a coachYour scheme will be dictated by the caliber of athlete you have playing the position. I think Raymond would be able to haul in more elite talent at the position. They could play press man more and if they did want to play with a cushion, more elite talent would have the speed to close, wrap up, be more physical, and maybe turn their heads. We will see what CJH does. He has been pretty loyal to his staff so far and we don’t know if Coach Raymond would want to come here anyway.
Yes, basic football for little league is finding the ball. Trying to stay with a faster WR is lack of genetics. Neither fall on the college coach, only the offer to the player. You are right it’s all athletes. Willie is not teaching these kids wrong or telling them not to turn there head around. They all know and teach the same s***.
Humm....and just how many All-Pro DBs has UT produced in the last 10 years? 1? 2? Meanwhile we all cringe when its more than 3rd and 7 b/c we've seen this movie 100x. Find the ball - the receiver will probably be in close proximity. Plus the likelihood of PI drops. You know, I keep reading this on here, then I keep seeing All-Pro DBs going through the receivers' hands to break up passes without once turning their heads back toward the line.
That's ok when your facing the quarterback in zone, but that's a terrible idea in man coverage. I'm not a Martinez fan, but I also see we don't have the Jimmy's and Joes to play man, and are not really good in zone. In that instance, what do you do? Blitz and take players out of coverage or sit back and hope for a player to make a play?Humm....and just how many All-Pro DBs has UT produced in the last 10 years? 1? 2? I don’t know the answer to this but I know it hasn’t been fixed in three years of trying. That's ok when your facing the quarterback in zone, but that's a terrible idea in man coverage. Not that long ago, Raymond was considered THE best DB coach in the NCAA. AND and elite recruiter. His LSU groups were elite and filled with NFL level talent. We don't really know what the reasoning was for his ouster at UF. Something tells me there's is more to this story. UF DB's were light years better than ours, IMO.So, let me see if I understand this correctly. Florida fired Raymond because his position group didn't show enough improvement or development of players. So we fire Martinez and then hire someone that was fired. Ok....that is literally the most ignorant thing I've seen on this board and it's some ignorant crap posted daily.
There's just no hope for some of this fanbase.....
I think sunbelt billy is in panic mode and needed to fire some people to save him for another yearNot that long ago, Raymond was considered THE best DB coach in the NCAA. AND and elite recruiter. Also, Banks coaches the safeties and DBs overall. He also calls the defensive plays that includes the big cushions that are allowed. This could be due to the lack off talent that he has. Not saying that Martinez shouldn't go but poor secondary play is not all his fault. JMO it is a lack of talent more than anything.
Your collective idea has merit, assuming the collective has the same knowledge as the individual/s making the decision. However, when the possession of knowledge and facts are not equal, then the individual/s charged with making decisions will undoubtedly make a better decision than the ignorant masses. They likely cant make as much noise, as the bleating masses trumpet their notions from every hill and valley, however their decisions will likely be much more accurate.People like to ridicule the idea that a bunch of fans think they know better than the coaches what needs fixing. While that's almost always true when talking about one or a few fans, don't underestimate the collective perception and insight of 100K fans. The collective has knowledge and intuition greater than any of the individuals in the collective. And sometimes even greater insight than maybe a stubborn coach that is too close to the trees to see the forest.
Ya know, I get not looking for the ball from the jump. But if you can tell the WR is obviously acting like the ball is in the air, he's not going to adjust his route on you for turning around.Yes, basic football for little league is finding the ball. You and I have both seen things play out long enough that some coaches like some players agree to move on for mutual interest.Heupel isn’t firing Banks for sure so it doesn’t matter.
That's a very good post. We can see results but we cannot always see the details needed to make some of these decisions. My honest opinion is that Banks is underperforming just based on the results produced. Heupel however has a far better understanding of the details and mechanics than any of us.Your collective idea has merit, assuming the collective has the same knowledge as the individual/s making the decision. The above assumes the goals of the masses are aligned with the individual/s charged with making the decisions are the same or atbleadt similar.
Football fans and social media are the epitome of how loud the uninformed masses can be.
Teams with much less talent do better. UT was 10th vs the SEC in pass D. They have as much or more talent in the secondary than UK, MSU, OM, Auburn, Arkansas, and Mizzou.Heupel is just gonna promote from within. Will not see an improvement on DB play because we need to improve the talent at the position first.
