How do you know what coaches are available and which aren't without approaching them.

Would you have thought AR would steal the WI coach?
That was a homerun hire. If he hadn't been approached with money he would still be at WI.
TN has the money, use it , hire a winner.
We don't need to gamble on the 3rd hire in 4 years.

We need a wow coach. We don't need a lower to mid tier coach. If Hart settles for that we will not compete in the SEC.

To win in the best conference in the nation we have to have one of the very best coaches.

Strong may end up being a good coach in a few years. TN does nor have a few years to experiment.

Yeah. I agree. I hope he doesn't just bring in his offensive staff. Nothing broke with what we already have, and it would allow him to hit the ground running by just fixing the defensive side of the ball.

Statistics don't lie. This offense was arguably the most prolific in the SEC. Needs some improvement, but just consider a defense that can routinely get off the field and give an already hot offense 3-5 more possessions per game, and not force us to be so unbalanced, playing catch up all the time.

haha i have noticed... Floridas defenses during their championships were a huge reason they won... on a side note charlie strong is gonna have fun with our linebacking core IMO

You people are pathetic. Strong isn't Dooley.

For one, Strong has a winning record. That's a start.
Strong will recruit.
Strong brought Louisville to a BCS bowl.
Strong won his conference.

This isn't a mediocre hire. This isn't a 'wait and see' hire. This isn't a 'give the guy a chance' hire. This is different. Strong will be expected to win very soon, possibly within 2 years. And he clearly has a winning reputation, which means you people shouldn't even have to convince yourselves to 'give him a chance'. We aren't giving him a chance... We are giving him our EXPECTATIONS.

Look, I'm by no means sold on Strong. I neither like nor dislike the hire. But the fact that people are already spouting off about how much of a failure he will be... that's just pathetic. I mean truly, scum-of-the-earth pathetic.

The coaching quality in the SEC is pretty much like a bunch of straight A students all in one big honors class. There is not very much, if any, room between them.

Our last coach was not honors material and when he went into the classroom he fell behind very quickly.

I believe the only one of the group that has set himself apart from the rest of the class is Saban and some of that has been due to studying. But in many ways Miles is able to out perform Saban due to his creativity. His Mad Hatter approach is unique and sets him apart. Slightly below these two is Muschamp and Richt and only due to age and lack of drive is Spurrier there.


Again this group is very, very close in ability and at any time anyone could step up and be the leader of the class.


Mullen and Sumlin are new to this class as they just transferred here recently and are still learning the difference in what this tracher expects compared to the last trach...but once the figure it out they will be right there with them..maybe slightly behind Saban. Maybe ahead of him though.

Which brings is to Strong. Strong is the new kid. But he's really not as he was in the school during his freshman year but went away for a few years and is now back as a Senior. He knows what it takes to be a leader and has lead before. I group him with Sumlin and Mullen (ahead of Franklin) only because he is a knew coach in the SEC. But once he settles in he will be just fine.


Again, the SEC is like honor society. There just isnt much difference between brainiac one and brainiac two. Problem is we had the moron of the class last year and it was very obvious.

Exactly. I was hoping we'd take Sumlin the last time around (slim pickings considering the bad timing)...but we got Dooley instead.

Our team would've played Bama in the SEC Championship game this year, had we gotten Sumlin, rather than Dooley. The very same folks fussing about Strong are the same ones who would've fussed about Sumlin.

That goes both ways....when using facts to support the argument against CCS...everyone downplays them....does this sound familiar....

But he is at a BBall school and no one wants to go there....

His recruiting rankings right now is bc the players are scared he is leaving....

10-2 is a great record...not his fault his oppo records are a combined 57-81...


So both sides either ignore them or bend them onto their side
