I made that assumption a while ago, but now I think the problem is that he's a low IQ clown who spends all his time worried about what everyone thinks. That's why he went with the candy cane socks, wears the yarmulke headband, wore those godawful shoes at KY, picks fights regularly, runs his mouth at opposing benches, coaches and players and is generally an attention whore.

Yeah, he's a bit of a woman.

What do you think Smith's problem is? Regretting the decision to stay?

He forgot to practice jump shooting in the off season.

If just about shoots a set shot from three as well.

Don't really know right now. He has clearly lost some confidence and won't just drill the pullup anymore. He doesn't get the foul calls because he's trying to do some acrobatic garbage with nearly every shot, so he's now just flying and flailing. If I'm Bruce, I tell him to do the one hard dribble and pullup for the rest of his life. It's hard to defend and when people begin defending it well, you have them beaten with the drive.

I'm also not sure he has the mentality to be the main guy. Dale Ellis, one of my favorite Vols, knew he was the main guy and made sure everyone else knew at tough time that he was the way, the truth..... Tyler goes absent at crunch time just as often as he shows up. He should be the guy to stop long droughts as well, but he just never seems to show up.

I see the big picture. he's the closest thing to a set shooter I've seen in the SEC for the past 10 years and he has made roughly two drives all season. His FT shooter is abysmal. Where's the big picture?

I'm with you on this one, BPV. Despite the predictions of some on here that Tatum would one day lead the SEC in scoring, he's played astonishingly predictable this season.

He (well, really very few UT players) hardly moves without the ball, which requires very little effort to defend. Even if he beats his man, he's shown no ability to score once he's done that - it's like he hasn't thought of what to do once he gets a step.

Our offense is not set up to get guys easy set shots. If it were, he'd be valuable, b/c he can play a mean game of HORSE from beyond the arc.

I don't know about this assessment. You can have an easy-going personality and still get the job done. I think "attention whore" is a bit harsh for Wayne.

My armchair analysis: I think he and Tyler realized somewhere around the second Gonzaga game that we were sorely limited without Lofton and JaJuan and Ramar, and they both seemed to start thinking more about making money than the next game.

how has this abortion helped them make any money?

Wayne's absolutely an attention whore. I didn't say it can't be pulled off, it's just tougher for someone who's clearly limited up top.

Really big loss if true. We would be guranteed no offense for the next 3 years.

:eek:k:

Tatum has been disappointing at best. Guaranteed no offense?? I like our chances without him and a pure shooting freshman. Tatum has been a non-factor and typically disappears when the heat is on.

Uhhh got it on 1st hand knowledge that more than 1 or 2 like the left hand cigs on this team. Don't know how they keep a team fielded if they are truly testing.

I watched my last minutes of this team on sat.

Then you really aren't a fan anyway. Based on some of your posts, you are probably better off not commenting on the team as well.

Probably not as hard as it is for me to believe that anyone actually took it seriously.

How am I supposed to know if someone isn't being serious? There was no emoticon and I can't see their face, plus the fact that a large percentage of posters generally have no clue about the basketball program.

What does making a joke about Prince have to do with knowing anything about the basketball program? I wasn't debating Prince's relative worth to the team in relation to anyone in that post. If I was, I probably would have mentioned another player by name.

Once he gets a full offseason of good health underneath him, he'll be fine.

I'm pretty sure Tatum also attended prep school after his senior year PLUS was here another year in the program as a redshirt and Hopson has still out performed him with 2 less years of extra time. It has nothing to do with his health. Tatum just is far more limited.

Interesting quote by Scotty today:

A reporter asked him if this team needed another player meeting similar to what Tyler did earlier.

Scotty replies, "...maybe we do need another meeting, but it's not my job to call it in"

You don't have to be an upperclassman to be a leader...see: EB....hopefully Hopson learns to be a leader because he will be our best player in the future.

That is a very disappointing statement. Lets just hope he can evolve to be a leader and accept that role. At this point someone needs to step up and do something......Wayne???

Don't read too much into - sure it's bad - but comparing Scotty Hopson to Eric Berry is just dumb. Yes - they were both super stars in high school - but Eric Berry was the best player on the field his freshman year... it's a lot easier to get respect from your teammates and build confidence that you can call these types of meetings when you're a player the caliber of Berry.

So - what if Renaldo Woolridge said this very same thing? Wouldn't of opened as many people's eyes. Do you expect some crappy freshman that only get special teams play on the football team to call a players only meeting this year?

It wasn't the best choice of words by Scotty to say the least though. We need leaders - but that comment only says he doesn't feel that he's good enough or mature or confident enough in himself to be that guy just yet and he feels someone else is already in that role - I don't think he means anything negative by it.

So are we sure that it is Tatum?? and if so how soon does Bruce make a move?

I would say that he's doing it right now, as far as setting the table for this offseason. He was in Alabama last week looking at someone (not sure who it was) and of course, his frequent visits to Grainger County...
