Streets are talking again

Wasn't really a debate - just a couple of Hopson haters with no case or basis that were in love with Tatum based on 2 halves against G'town and Gonzaga.

I would say that he's doing it right now, as far as setting the table for this offseason. He was in Alabama last week looking at someone (not sure who it was) and of course, his frequent visits to Grainger County...

Hopefully he was looking at Eric Bledsoe.

In the same manner I heard the talk about Duke Crews, I heard about 2-3 weeks ago some whispers on the street about one of our current basketball players. I didn't want to run with it then because it was just street talk.

Well, just heard on the Saturday sports show in Knoxville (1180 AM) that there is now some talk about the basketball team maybe having a scholarship available and a player being asked to leave.

They guy involved in the talk I heard about a few weeks ago was Tatum, but I'm not certain if the player mentioned this morning is Tatum or not.

Anybody heard anything?

When the streets are talking, the talk is usually spot on. It doesn't surprise me at all that Tatum is involved. Look for him to not be on the team much longer. Too many incidents and nonsense with him.

well im not going to say anything else but about 2 years back or so i was at a party that SEVERAL of our startin lineup in the basketball team where at and they where all smoking, like his name ryhmes with shmame shmizim. if every school got rid of their basketball players that smoked pot we would all be soccer fans because there would be no more basketball...

If it was just reefer, I would agree with you. But it is the other details that go along with it that makes these incidents stand out. With both Duke Crews and Cam Tatum, the people telling me the stories are not the kind of people college kids (or really me for that matter) need to be associated with. But I have to be around some of these people from time to time.

I will say this, not much good goes on at night on Texas or Minnesota Avenues. No UT athletes name needs to be bouncing off of the lips of the guys I know outside of football or basketball talk.

Ivan Racheff...Lonsdale and WP Taylor?

Sad times for the program. Dumbest part of the whole thing for lots of these idiots is they do not realize that being around real gangstas (not rappers who are posing) is dangerous and that they are such big guys with fame and a spotlight that they are big targets. Literally they are big targets and it is easier to get blasted when you cannot hide anywhere. Metaphorically when you have lots of opportunities and fame and women it creates jealousy from wannabe scarfaces who are the prince of their little slice of welfare hell.

Dope dealers don't get welfare b/c of attention but Crackheads do.

Tatum cannot create his own shot.

Scotty can.

End of story.

Did you happen to catch Tatum's drive under the hoop for the highlight reel reverse? He can create, just not as well. Scotty has the talent to make a move pretty much at will. Cam is more limited, despite being more experienced.

Pastor I have known drug dealers who get welfare (white guy living in a trailer in blount county, indian fellow in a house in sevier and some young black men in sevier).

Of course there is also Ol Dirty Bastard. In some places you draw more attention for not drawing checks than if you do.

Is anybody ready to come to terms with the fact that this guy has never lived up to his potential because of things going on outside of campus?

I'll say this, I'm not sure if things are better in Knoxville today than they were between 2006-2010, but I do know that during that time period, there were things told to me that would make Richard Pryor and Frank Lucas blush.

Hopefully, Cuonzo and Dooley are able after this season to flush out the last remnants from that era and get us back to where we need to be in both sports. As far as I know, Tatum is the last of that bunch that is left on campus.

ready for him to leave, lets advise he leaves now instead of the end of the season.

I've said for years that by just looking at him that he either does/sells drugs, or does some other street activity. Just looks kinda thugish/stoned.

please edit this and fix the last part. does he look stoned? yes. but dont classify him by looks there are guys on our team now and in the past that by looks you would say the same thing but never gave any reason to think that. bobby maze?

It's just my perception of him.

The exception doesn't disprove the general rule.

9 times out of 10, what you see is what you get.

What do you see when you see Tatum? Or Duke Crews, Romar Smith or Nukeese for that matter?

I hate to be or sound racist (I'm black btw), but I'm just saying.

Tatum's eyes have always looked like they are about to pop out of his head....

I knew this and that's why I tried to word it without offending you if possible. When some of these guys come from the hood, you can pretty much tell by looking at them at the lifestyle they are used to, and will probably always have. Now there are some that get out, and make a difference, and for them I applaud them... This was a potential great call on your part.:hi:

Blaming Cam sucking at dribbling and shooting on weed? That's a slur to weed.

If anything, they put a stop to the weed and he can't play well without it.

It's amazing to me that whenever the subject of drug use and college players comes up, the first assumption is weed.

Kind of funny.
