Team Issue…

Dude they are as thin as a lamb skin condom at about every position.
Whose fault is that then? It’s no surprise that the design of the offense that’s predicted on not subbing has impacted the ability to build depth. Every WR and TE from the 2021 class is gone and we’re down to playing RS FR who lack reps because they don’t get snaps unless they start the series. Our lack of WR and OL depth from an experience standpoint is our own doing.

Everyone can say Milton is the problem but both the offense and defense is clearly lacking confidence.

There’s no heart, no fight, no energy surrounding this team.

Is there a distraction going on? Who knows but something is definitely not right with this staff that just won 11 games last year.
Lost your play caller

Because they're WORN OUT from the O going 3& out
Doesn't hold water because our defense should be holding the other team offense to 3 and out too. Their idea of pass defense is to go guard a spot instead of a receiver. Therefore, receivers are always open.

Because the offense can’t stay on the field with the horrible quarterback play
I don’t think this is about horrible QB play as much as it is, horrible play calling. It’s a much bigger issue than one player - we have no creativity, no scheme, no plan to attack the defense’s weakness - and they all have weaknesses. We have bought into the legend of the three-headed monster at running back and are now slave to that narrative. Yes, we run the ball well most of the time. But we don’t have to run on first and second down every series - especially when we are trailing. The person calling the plays on Offense - whether it’s Heupel or the OC - that’s the problem. No imagination, no creativity, NO PLAN of attack. If that doesn’t change it won’t matter what level of talent we have - we will be a predictable, boring offense that a good juco defense could scheme against and win. We saw that almost happen in a game earlier this year. They had a plan to attack our defense with a creative game plan and we almost sh*t the bed. We need a new, dynamic play caller that has experience and a clue about how to get after a defense with changes made play-to-play, series-to-series and every quarter of the game - no stop. They adjust, we adjust. The adjust more, we adjust even more than they do. Otherwise, we will see this film over and over and never like the ending…. GBO!

Quarterback reliability/trust dictates the play calling. It’s been painfully obvious Heupel doesn’t trust Joe. That holds the entire team hostage.

So why has the defense been non existence two games in a row?
The D is worn out by second quarter because they are on the field so much. If the offense is rolling, they move down field very quickly. If the offense is sucking, then they go three-and-out. The D is back on the field before they've had a chance to catch their breath or discuss adjustments on the sideline.

What difference does a redshirt for Nico make at this point anyway? Won’t he be gone after the next two years anyway?
Nobody knows what the future hold. Keep your options open. You better have a plan B and C. Peyton Manning stayed 4 years because he liked the college experience and had a chance for a National Championship. Nico needed to put on weight, not get injured and get some seasoning. Honestly, what would have been the upside in playing Nico early in the season win loss wise versus keeping him healthy for next year and saving a year of eligibility?

Well you see the other teams have a QB that has a football IQ above room temperature....see the difference Sparky?

Year 3 and not even competitive in 2 games in a row is concerning to say the least.
This is similar to Butch's second 9-3 season where the wheels fell off at the end. Everybody loved that first 9-3 year but had a gut feeling the wheels came off which they did. This 4 loss season where we've had multiple games where we did not score a single point in the second halves of games leaves many with that same queasy feeling like the wheels have come off again. I hope Heupel turns it around quickly,

We don't have the depth to overcome injuries. That will wear on teams. Next man up mentality only works for so long.

We had a lot of the players bail like 3 years ago. We are short on the scholarships. It adds up and when you couple that with injuries, it can look like lack of effort when it really is the differential between the caliber of players on the two teams.

The interesting thing is even if the offense was scoring every time, the defense still gets worn out quicker. It is the nature of the quick paced offense IMO. You can see that with other games where both teams are quick scoring offenses.

The teams this year are reacting to that with long extended drives. I think it is why for the most part the teams that win the CFP are ones that do not try to go fast. I dare say there are some that believe that an offense like what CJH and other runs will not lead to a CFP Championship, because it will require a defense that can still be effective while being on the field 70 to 80 percent of the game time. That means we need extra ordinary depth on the defense, so players get a break.

He's the QB...

How many years do you need to watch football before you understand the importance of the position???
Cool. So it was Hookers fault we lost to Perdue, South Carolina and UGA? When are you going to learn that football is the ultimate TEAM sport. One you know very little about.

QB has nothing to do with tackling and being able to execute fundamentally in defense. You are wanting to blame everything on Joe and that doesn’t hold water.

Losses from last year and injuries this year have surely hurt this team but I cannot excuse 3 **** sandwiches in year number 3 of this coaching staff. I am not discounting the hill to climb that Heupel had when he got here but this season has been a clear regression. All due respect to Nico but he alone will not make this team into a contender. There are many flaws to fix and Heupel needs to get to fixing.
This year was always going to be a regression. If you thought overwise you weren't living in reality.
