The Official #18 Tennessee vs. #1 Georgia Game Thread, 3:30 PM ET, CBS

None. I heard someone on Sirrius XM discuss the pregame matchup earlier in the week. One commented that Beasley is TN’ best LB but would be avg for most top 15 teams.
Bingo!! Where else would Herring start at LB?? Where else would Slaughter start? The D has played bad but some of it is personel.

Ultimately, it's not Milton's job to run Heuple's offense, It's Heupel's JOB to install an offense that works with Milton and his skill set and the rest of our offensive talent. That's what coaches are supposed to do. You adjust to your talent--not the other way around.
Can you explain that pass into the crowd to end the half? Heupel install that?

And what if Milton is incapable of running any offense that scores enough consistently to at least be competitive. Do you then install you 5 star qb and just see if that works better

Then I guess you’ll settle for these next 7-8 win seasons. Cause we aren’t about to recruit a to 5 class. A coach has to give a top recruit a reason to come. These results aren’t that.
Of course recruits matter. We eventually have to be able to beat a top 5 team with a 10-15 recruit class. That’s coaching and development. How do you propose we get it done since the only way is having a top 3 class? Please let us know. Better yet let Heup know.
You’re not going to consistently beat teams that recruit significantly better. There’s a reason it’s UGA, Bama, OSU every year. Because they recruit top 5

Sadly, I believe the coaches did just that ... they installed a offensive system that Joe could handle. The problem is Joe can't handle a sofisticated offensive system so they had to installl a simple two-page playbook and Joe couldn't even handle that consistently. Next year we will be back to a wide open offensive playbook with Nico ... book it.

We have to be able to recruit higher. It's a must in the NIL/portal era that we have top 10 classes to be competitive with GA and Bama. It just is. You can't except to consistently beat much better talent unless they have the lousy coaching aTm had.

You won't outcoach or out develop Kirby and Nick. They're Hall of Fame coaches. You may MATCH their coaching but you just won't consistently beat them without recruiting lots of very, very good classes of athletes.

Again, be realistic about who you're playing against and the talent you're playing against. It's not a "fan sin" to acknowledge that we're not there yet.

Do you not recall the kids we ran off due to their part in Pruitt's pay scheme? Then almost an entire recruiting class gets nuked. That's why we've got a gap in experienced players. Remember, Heupel came in and was in scramble mode in his first recruiting class. He's been swimming upstream ever since due to the NCAA slow playing us and not accepting our self imposed penalties. Opponents have been using that against us. Heupel needs another 2 classes to see his roster flipped. And let's not pretend that a top 15 class is going to "close the gap" with UGA who is reeling in top 2-3 classes every year. You don't go out and beat 5 star talent at least 2 deep with 3 stars and transfers.
Folks don’t understand. They think it’s like Nintendo - you hit reset and everything is equal. Our staff barely got here for the first class and then we’re able to spend the next year trying to build relationships with the elite players who had been courted by dozens of schools for three or four years…very few even considered a dumpster fire like Tennessee. And as you noted, everyone used the pending sanctions against us.

This years class is better but hopefully the last few openings will include some elite DBs, DTs and another OL. And the using transfer portal - especially looking at those tea pms that have fired their coaches - will be important.

It’s not that we’re not there yet. That’s obvious to any idiot. It’s that we appear to be going backwards. This team has imploded. The lack of leadership, drive, desire starts at the top and is concerning. They’ve quit.

And Josh did adjust…we were just limited because Joe can’t run Hueple’s O…

You need dogs on your team that make plays, we lost bru, our defense has given up on that offense I can almost promise you. Barron gone
That and you need some depth. We're thin. There was a big drop off in our OLine injuries, Bru was a big loss, Pili was a good portal grab who got hurt, and all the guys who graduated from last year.

We're just not loaded like GA and Bama to holler "next man up" and expect only a little drop off. I wish, but that's not how it is.

I don’t know what the recruiting average rankings are for TN over the past 3 years but from what I’m seeing, Vandy is a lot closer to TN in terms of on field play than TN is to GA and I’m positive Vandy is nowhere in the same stratosphere as TN in recruiting. So what does that say about our coaches.

It’s sickening to watch the Vols be a doormat to GA and Bama year in and year out.
