To Hell With Boise State.

Dont forget that Boise also said they'd play anybody......as long as they get paid $1million.

Lets see, pay UT-Marting $350k for a 99.9% chance of winning or $1,000,000 to BSU for a chance of the game hurting more than helping.

Have you watched any ACC football the last couple of years? There was no way any team in that conference should have been Top 10 to start the season. How good was VPI suddenly supposed to have become?

And much of the "strength" of this "enormous" win is based upon preseason silliness. Nobody knew what VT had coming into this game, aside from Williams and Taylor.

Moving the bar to adjust for the unknown, as it becomes more clear, is exactly what everyone should be doing. Crowning Boise as something special at this point would be similar to crowning everyone that beat our '05 squad as dominant.

Yea as long as it's at HOME or a NETURAL site:crazy:

And Boise rejected The Cornhuskers to play 3 games..1 in Bosie and 2 in Nebraska!!!! Boise ONLY wants to play at HOME!!!! or at a neutral site...Go Figure..

you mean neutral site like V Tech and UT last year

Because Teams like Texas, USC and Ohio State WON'T PLAY BOISE.
that is the problem.

Why would they? The system gives them absolutely no benefit for it. Texas can make more money by scheduling an endless series of home games against the Amarillo Institute of Calculator Repair than they could by playing Boise. Texas doesn't need the exposure; Boise needs the exposure. Why should Texas give up money and risk a loss to help Boise?

Awesome

Although I don't think it will happen, the ideal situation would be BSU vs the SEC champ for the title... That would effectively put an end to the non-sense of mid-major programs playing 2 or 3 breathing opponents per year and then whining about getting left out of the NC game.

BTW, if Boise really wanted a piece... they'd be clamouring to join the Big 12 right now. They could even play in the weaker North.

Would be a senseless financial decision for TX. This dumbass argument about teams being scared to play Boise are just press fodder.

I agree if Boise wants to be recognized they do need to join a legit conference, now is their chance

Well, this is what it always comes down to. "The answer to all your questions is money." Boise doesn't have the money or stadium to have a home-and-home series on an equal footing with any of the traditional powers, so they're stuck in this limbo of being sort of a supercharged mid-major punching bag. Except that you're supposed to pay them twice as much and they might actually beat you. Hard to believe that Ohio State and USC aren't jumping all over that.

Texas isn't scared to play a home and home with the Buckeyes. They're certainly not afraid of Boise.

No. That isn't the problem. Texas plays 8 Big 12 games against teams with at least as much talent as Boise as do USC and OSU. All of these big name BCS conference schools who are supposedly ducking Boise play 9+ legit opponents every year. BSU plays 2-3 and then a bunch of WAC scout teams to polish up for their bowl.

Here's what some of the SEC AD's should do and get ESPN involved. They should offer to take all four of BSU's OOC games preferrably in consecutive weeks. Then we'd see if they can play with the big boys.

:good!: Or let them join the BIG 12 either way they have a chacne to prove that they can play with the big dogs..Boise DOESN'T want that!!!!!

dude get your panties out of a wad, been messing with everyone here who are just being hater trolls right now. Give Boise some props. Would they go undefeated in the sec heck no do they play in a weak conference yes hopefully they will go to a real conference someday.

That, sir, is an awesome idea. It will never happen, but it would be fantastic.

It would be nice if college football were organized enough to make something like, say, an SEC-Big 10 challenge happen. Can you imagine what an epic weekend that would be?

Boise was a Jr College all the way until 1967. They went from Div 1-AA to Div 1 in 1996. They have only been playing big time football for 14 years. They gotta earn their stripes before they can sit at the big boy table.

season is too short and Boise wouldn't remotely consider playing a real schedule. They get to be in this debate because they throw in a win like last night's to validate their trash schedule. They play something more akin to a BCS conference style schedule, even Big East or ACC, and they don't hang around for the BCS darling title.

The win last nite might have hurt BSU more in the long run than helped. It gives them good motivation for this year but in future years who wants to schedule them and get tossed out of the NC picture first game (see Frank Beamer).

You're a little harder than I am on them; they were willing to move to the MWC when it still held TCU, BYU, and Utah, so apparently they're willing to upgrade their schedule somewhat. It would just be amusing to see them hem and haw their way around an offer from ESPN to carry four games back to back against, say, LSU, Georgia, Auburn, and Alabama.
