Vaccine or not?

J&J testing was done after the new variants emerged; the lower efficacy numbers came largely from the S African trial when the newer variants had become the dominant strain. It was far more in the ballpark in the US and Brazil - 82% and 88%. From other articles all the vaccines are pretty much equal and extremely effective in preventing long term hospitalization ... or the susceptible population has been Cuomoed.

FDA Gives Emergency Authorization for Johnson & Johnson's COVID-19 Vaccine
I’m up Tuesday because some of my contacts put me in and around high risk people. I’m leaning one and done like @Luthervol did.

Don’t reckon I will. I had it and nothing happened except effing my school schedule up. Doesn’t seem like a good risk reward ratio for someone like me. If y’all wanna be the Guinea pigs step right up. Things like this shouldn’t be rushed through. And no I don’t have some sort of animus against all vaccines, I don’t feel comfortable that what’s being injected has been researched enough in its long term effects.

To each his own. I was right in the middle on this one.
I know people in the medical profession who did not get it and people in the medical profession who were anxiously first in line.
If it gives people an increased sense of safety thereby allowing society to continue moving back to normal, I'm all for it.
As long as our government doesn’t attempt to mandate it. The way things are going it unfortunately seems plausible that they might try something like that

On Facebook there is evidence that a Knoxville Walmart pharmacist was walking around offering doses at the end of the night to random shoppers. I would assume they were end of life and it was use it or lose it. Wonder how much this is happening across the country. If you need a shot, shop during the last hour the pharmacy is open. Maybe you'll get luck.

I saw something to that effect here, someone posting that a Walmart in north GA has a list you can get on for remainder shots and to hang around when they close up.

I can't state with 100% certainty that I'm not a brain in a vat. But I can state with a high amount of confidence that the chances of dying or becoming seriously ill without the vaccine are higher than with it. Which is really about all that needs to be considered.

So you think this vaccine is about 99% effective? Your statements here show a serious flaw. But you do you.

I didn't comment on how effective they are. Only that they generally reduce the risk of serious illness and death from covid, relative to an unvaccinated population (i.e., that they're effective). That's the purpose of the vaccine. I have no idea where you got 99% from.

I’m thinking the %’s doesn’t prove your theory out . This along with zero long term side effects data very much needs to be considered .

not so sure how comfortable I would be with asking to be injected with an "end of life" vaccine.....but that's just me
If there were a vaccine that was to prevent “end of life” I’m not sure many people would pass on it.

What theory? The notion that the vaccines are effective against preventing death and serious illness from covid is hardly controversial. There have literally been studies to prove this.

I checked West Knox Walmart about sign ups and the website says they don't have any this week?

I heard the pharmacy in a local Kroger announce over the loud speakers they had doses for anyone who wanted them. When I asked them why it was because they had a ton left over from missed appointments. PedoJoe was right, some folks just can't internet well.

Since my doctors all seem to be in agreement that I get this thing, anybody have any idea which is the best one to get?

Get my second shot March 17th. This is a no-brainer, in my opinion not getting it is selfish. It's not just about whether one person gets it, it's about spreading the virus as well. Possibly endangering other people. I got the Pfizer vaccine and had absolutely no side affects.

Father-in-law of a niece died from Covid 19. He was fit, strong and retired Navy. Almost killed his wife as well, she's doing better.

It’s not selfish to refuse the vaccine.

Totally disagree.

I will tell you that several people I've talked that got the vaccine had several responses similar to mine and that was one of such relief it was amazing and wonderful.

I’m not surprised that you disagree or hold such an attitude.

To me it’s selfish to expect others to get the vaccine.

Kind of selfish to expect somebody else to get a vaccine they don't want so that you have peace of mind.
