What South Carolina forums think of Joe Milton

I will never understand why any coach or player would want to come to this university. We have a section of this fanbase that would like nothing better for any aspect of this team to fail, just so they have a platform to spew their bile and make themselves feel better about whatever is broken in their lives. Regardless of what some on here delude themselves about, there are eyes on our site that take note as well. Coaches ( current or potential), players, and yes even recruits. If I had a choice between two or three teams and I saw the vitriol vomited up on here, I would choose any other team. You use South Carolina's chat board to prove your point? I guarantee they, and every other SEC school, use ours against us in recruiting.
Didn’t hear much of that last year when hooker was quarterback. Or the year before (except when Milton was terrible to start the season). I didn’t hear anything when Dobbs was qb. Or Bray. When our fans see a good quarterback out on the field we aren’t complaining.

Fans pour everything into support for their team. We buy apparel, game tickets, watch the game, etc. We pour or hard earned money into the program and have every right to voice our opinions. It’s perfectly normal and acceptable so long as it’s done in a respectful manner and expressed in the right forum (by the way this is absolutely the correct forum here).

Milton isn’t a good qb. Coaches make a million little decisions. And a few big ones. Heuple has done almost everything right during his time here. But one of the biggest decisions they make is who they choose for their qb. And that decision is even more significant for heuple than others because we run a super complex offensive system. And unfortunately…Heupel got this one wrong. It’s disappointing because Milton has never been good. He wasn’t good at Michigan and he wasn’t good to start his tenure here. For all the amazing things Heupel does with qbs he for whatever reason couldn’t see past Milton’s physical capabilities and recognize he doesn’t have the ability to consistently makes the ordinary/routine passes.

Good news is we have Milton is a 6th year senior. There’s no more need to worry about him sucking for us after this year. And it’s hard to even fathom nico won’t be better. I honestly believe any other qb on our roster that’s had as much time and work in heupel’s system would be more consistent at hitting the open receivers.

We have the right coach. We just have to support the team this year and deal with what’s going to be a big step back (because he’s not perfect and made a big mistake). We aren’t going to be good teams with Milton missing 75% of the deep open shots on defensive breakdowns.

Hopefully the staff will find more opportunities to get Nico involved and we can finish this season decent and polish off a good recruiting class. Knowing we have a generational talent, taking over after this year will absolutely provide optimism for our fans. You won’t hear fans complaining about the all fans at the same time next season. I’d bet the house on it.

Tennessee and Heupel need to rely on the running game and defense in order to win games and Milton is not the type of quarterback that can consistently carry Tennessee for long stretches.

Relying on our defense to win games? Are you kidding me? Our defense is not the kind that can consistently carry Tennessee for even short stretches against good teams.

It’s a sign they don’t want more of a qb controversy.
No it is because you play the best you have when the momentum switches. I'm assuming Milton is why the 14 points were scored?

I get it. With the score 31 to 0 you expected to see Nico get a lot of playing time .... then the defense tanked for a quarter which meant the starter needed to play. You don't replace the starting QB who has managed the offense for 31 points due to a bad series or two when you are leading 31-0, 31-7 and you definitely don't replace him when the defense is struggling.

There is no QB controversy and nor should there be one.

I HATE NEGAVOLS. Go find another team. Y’all suck.
So if you have a family member or friend that is making a lot of mistakes do you just lie to them and say that what they are doing is ok? To a lot of us we care about the Vols enough to call them out but at the same time we stand with them through thick and thin.

I see your point, but the problem is that none of the loudest, most complaining “fans” have a clue what they’re talking about. They honestly think the know more than the staff. It’s insanity.

I just know when Milton goes back to pass I just cringe, does anyone have confidence that he is going to make the completion?
I do.

Maybe Joe isn't a touch passer. So... why try to make him one? Why not have him throw the rocket for 15- 20 yards into the chest of the receiver? He has a very strong arm. Why not exploit that instead of make him something he isn't?

Or maybe Nico will magically turn into a dual threat QB next season instead of the pocket passer that his 5* rating was based on.

First I want to state I'm very happy with the win but even while winning their are still things teams can do better and I mean every player not just the quarterback. I'll be the first to say I'm not a coach and have no idea who coach Hype should play at quarterback especially since I'm not at the practices or meetings. After watching yesterday's game I figured coach Hype might put Nico in after the first series of the second half if our defense continued to stop their offense and our offense went up another score.
Only coach Hype knows what the plan was before UTSA started the second half with a different QB that started making plays and putting points on the board not to mention our own offense played very bad the first few series. I'm sure our coaches wasn't expecting the game to get away from us like it did which changed the gameplan for the second half.
Please forgive my writing skills, my excuse is I'm an electrical technician and have been shocked a lot over the years!

Ok people keep saying ludicrous things about Joe but they never have actual facts to back it up. He throws a few bad passes in a gane..like every other qb does every game. The difference is he got a label and they ride it.

Ill give you a stat. In a Tennessee Uniform Milton has thrown for 20tds and 1 pick. That pick was while he was being eaten by a 400 pound monster btw. Name me one other QB in this schools history thats had such a streak? The best QBs in this schools history have not. The closest that ever cane to it was Hendon.

If he is so bad as everyone seems to think..youd think hed have had a lot more. Right? Thing is when he throws its normally either our guy catches it or no one does. Its not like hes chucking up gifts and opposing dbs are dropping them.

People meed to slack off with the milton hate and the hate on the defense. We still have a lot of games left and we are in good shape to win 9-10 regular season games. Im sorry if some of you drank the koolaid and were expecting some kind of miracle SEC champ run...that was never in the cards. Last year we overachieved a lot and now we are back on track to coming up.

Last season we should have been a 8 (regular season) win team. Given what we had and this should have been the year for 9-10 and then 24 and 25 with Nico is when Voltron forms and we take over the east. Thats the pace the team is and was on the rebuild to become an annual 10 wins or better squad. Thats how dynasties start. Its how OSU, Bama, Clemson and now Georgia built their runs. You dont just all of a sudden flip a switch and get awarded championships. You build a program. Thats whats happening here so start supporting whats going on instead of being constant chicken littles.

The good ole check down screen. Used to run it on NCAA 14 all the time. Run 15 yards backwards and then throw it to the half back after you took the entire defense with you behind him
Unstoppable, especially when you move your fastest WR to the QB position. It was that and Four Verticals with the 99 speed WR at QB

What is the average gain on those bubbles? If it's less than three yards you have a point. If not, you need to stfu.

Most of the bubble passes were > 3 yards. I think there were 2 that were less - most were in the 5 to 11 yard range ... the goal is to move the sticks and keep moving downfield. You take what the defense gives you until they stop giving it to you.

So the constant chorus of 'Milton sucks' coming from these boards is 'standing with him'?

I'll take that all day long and ten times every Saturday
