Didn’t hear much of that last year when hooker was quarterback. Or the year before (except when Milton was terrible to start the season). I didn’t hear anything when Dobbs was qb. Or Bray. When our fans see a good quarterback out on the field we aren’t complaining.I will never understand why any coach or player would want to come to this university. We have a section of this fanbase that would like nothing better for any aspect of this team to fail, just so they have a platform to spew their bile and make themselves feel better about whatever is broken in their lives. Regardless of what some on here delude themselves about, there are eyes on our site that take note as well. Coaches ( current or potential), players, and yes even recruits. If I had a choice between two or three teams and I saw the vitriol vomited up on here, I would choose any other team. You use South Carolina's chat board to prove your point? I guarantee they, and every other SEC school, use ours against us in recruiting.
Fans pour everything into support for their team. We buy apparel, game tickets, watch the game, etc. We pour or hard earned money into the program and have every right to voice our opinions. It’s perfectly normal and acceptable so long as it’s done in a respectful manner and expressed in the right forum (by the way this is absolutely the correct forum here).
Milton isn’t a good qb. Coaches make a million little decisions. And a few big ones. Heuple has done almost everything right during his time here. But one of the biggest decisions they make is who they choose for their qb. And that decision is even more significant for heuple than others because we run a super complex offensive system. And unfortunately…Heupel got this one wrong. It’s disappointing because Milton has never been good. He wasn’t good at Michigan and he wasn’t good to start his tenure here. For all the amazing things Heupel does with qbs he for whatever reason couldn’t see past Milton’s physical capabilities and recognize he doesn’t have the ability to consistently makes the ordinary/routine passes.
Good news is we have Milton is a 6th year senior. There’s no more need to worry about him sucking for us after this year. And it’s hard to even fathom nico won’t be better. I honestly believe any other qb on our roster that’s had as much time and work in heupel’s system would be more consistent at hitting the open receivers.
We have the right coach. We just have to support the team this year and deal with what’s going to be a big step back (because he’s not perfect and made a big mistake). We aren’t going to be good teams with Milton missing 75% of the deep open shots on defensive breakdowns.
Hopefully the staff will find more opportunities to get Nico involved and we can finish this season decent and polish off a good recruiting class. Knowing we have a generational talent, taking over after this year will absolutely provide optimism for our fans. You won’t hear fans complaining about the all fans at the same time next season. I’d bet the house on it.
