Jim Tressel resigns

The excerpt about the raffle tickets was hilarious and sad at the same time.

Not sure why Knoxville had to be in the article. I would think AU would've been a more fitting comparison choice.

People here are so concerned about us not being recognized for our tradition and standing in the SEC.

Can't have it both ways.

I agree, but the association with Tuscaloosa and Columbus in the article is suspect. Sure we like our sports, but I can't think of anything this scandalous ever coming out of Knoxville. I also pray there never is.

Things were kinda scary for us during Tutorgate. ..we have our own date with the ncaa coming up so it's not like he's totally off base.

Hopefully it''ll be the last time we face the NCAA for anything other than arranging the trip to the White House.

Oho state is gonna get smacked behind this.

I hope so. I'm actually more confident that you're right now than I was this morning. I've read some things today that are more damning than what I understood the situation to be, in particular that the tattoos for memorabilia scandal dated back to 2002..not just last season. You might be able to convince the 'AA that Tressel went off the reservation for a year...but to have that scandal living for as long as it did...the university will be more likely to get hit.

This is particularly true with the new, independent investigation looking into Pryor and his potential illegal benefits.

What I really hope happens is that the 'AA decides to look into Thad Matta's operation while there in Columbus. There seem to be rumors out there that he isn't running the cleanest ship, either. If they do uncover something there as well, OSU has even more to fear.

If you follow jay Bilas on twitter he goes through a lot of it. Osu is far from clear now that tressell is gone.

So, is it known as fat that bowl officials contacted the 'AA and urged them to allow the OSU players involved in the scandal be bowl-elgible so that they could get the matchup they wanted? (that is the correct timing, right? or, had OSU already been selected)

OSU gonna get ripped up for this.

Tressel is out.

I have a few OSu friends who have been giving me nonstop grief for the last 3-4 years about our coaching carousel.

Now it's time for me to make some phone calls :post-4-1090547912:

My OSU friends are in complete denial right now, claiming that all of this is over secondary violations

I find it ironic/karmatic/or whatever word fits how OSU basketball was one of the "players" in hurting our program (although Pearl, as much as I liked him, brought it on himself) and yet the Pearl situation and how the NCAA was going to deal with it was probably the biggest reason why Tressel had to resign.

tOSU is working with the NCAA for the most part and they just canned their coach.

If I had to bet, the Bucknuts won't get hammered. They'll lose a handful of scholarships and Tressel will never coach again.
